Coimbatore to Alapy Adventure Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Ooty
    2 hours 40 minutes (83.1 miles) from Coimbatore

    For a thrilling start to your adventure, head to the Nilgiri Mountain Railway and take a scenic train ride from Coonoor to Ooty. In the morning, stop by the Tea Factory and Museum to learn about the history and production of tea in the region. In the afternoon, take a trek to Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in the Nilgiri Mountains. End the day with an evening boat ride at Pykara Lake.

  2. Day 2: Munnar
    4 hours 20 minutes (114 miles) from Ooty

    Start the day with an early morning hike to Meesapulimala, the second-highest peak in the Western Ghats. In the afternoon, take a jeep safari through the Eravikulam National Park and spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. End the day with a visit to the Tea Museum and learn about the history and processing of tea in Munnar.

  3. Day 3: Thekkady
    2 hours 55 minutes (87.5 miles) from Munnar

    Start the day with a morning trek through the Periyar Tiger Reserve and spot the various wildlife in the park. In the afternoon, take a bamboo rafting tour through the Periyar River and experience the scenic beauty of the reserve. End the day with a cultural show at the Kadathanadan Kalari Centre and witness the ancient martial art of Kerala, Kalaripayattu.

Recommendations

Consider a visit to the Athirapally Waterfalls, which is located 2 hours 20 minutes (64.3 miles) from Thekkady. You can also take a side trip to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, which is 2 hours 15 minutes (50.6 miles) from Alappuzha. To maximize your fun, plan your visit during the winter months from October to February when the weather is pleasant. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, including appam, puttu and fish fry.
