2-Day Relaxed Solo Manali Itinerary (Mar 25–26, 2026) — Budget-Friendly Hostels

Day 1 · Wed, Mar 25
Manali

Arrival, settle in and stroll Mall Road

Morning:

Since you've likely arrived or will arrive late morning, take a relaxed start by checking into a budget-friendly hostel in Old Manali-look for common rooms and a rooftop like Hostel New Anvesh or Zostel Manali to drop your bag and freshen up. Wander gently toward Old Manali Bazaar for a late breakfast of steaming Tibetan momos and masala chai at a riverside cafe, then stroll along the Beas River to enjoy the mountain views and local handicraft shops-perfect low-key ways to settle into Manali without rushing.

Afternoon:

As the sun climbs higher, head to Mall Road for a leisurely window-shop of woolens and local souvenirs, then grab a late-lunch thali or hearty pasta at cozy backpacker favorite Cafe 1947 by the river. After eating, wander up to the viewpoint near Club House for panoramic valley views, pause for a hot chai at Johnson's Café terrace, and soak in the relaxed mountain pace before evening plans.

Evening:

As dusk settles, wander toward Old Manali Riverside Walk for the calming sound of the Beas under evening light, then pop into Drifter's Cafe for a cozy solo dinner - their thukpa and hot chocolate are backpacker favorites. Afterward, enjoy live music or a relaxed board-game session at The Lazy Dog Hostel common area (many hostels welcome non-guests), then finish the night with a gentle stroll up to the softly lit Mall Road promenade to soak the night-time vibe and plan tomorrow's Atal Tunnel day trip.

Day 2 · Thu, Mar 26
Manali / Solang Valley area (Atal Tunnel approach)

Hidimba Temple visit and Atal Tunnel day trip

Morning:

Start your day with a peaceful visit to Hidimba Devi Temple, wandering the cedar-shaded grounds and admiring the carved pagoda-style architecture before enjoying a hot cup of kahwa at a nearby riverside stall. From there, stroll through the quiet lanes to Van Vihar for an easy boardwalk among deodar trees and local birdlife, then stop at a backpacker-friendly café like Café 1947 (riverside seating alternative) or a similar Old Manali spot for a filling paratha and chai before heading out toward the Atal Tunnel route.

Afternoon:

After a peaceful morning, head toward Jogini Waterfall for an easy 30-40 minute trek through rhododendron and pine-bring a light windcheater and enjoy the cool spray and photo ops at the pool. Later, stop at Solang Nala viewpoint to ride a short ropeway or try paragliding taster options if your budget allows, then warm up with a comforting bowl of thukpa or momos at Snow Valley Café before prepping for the Atal Tunnel drive in the late afternoon.

Evening:

After returning from the Atal Tunnel approach, unwind with a warming soak and sunset view at Vashisht Hot Water Springs, followed by a relaxed stroll through the nearby Vashisht Village to browse local woolens and tiny bakeries. For dinner, settle into the cozy courtyard of Cafe Tattva or a riverside stall in Vashisht for simple dal-chawal or vegetable curry, then head back to your hostel rooftop to watch the stars and review photos from the day.
