2-Day Relaxed Solo Manali Itinerary (Mar 25–26, 2026) — Budget INR 8,000 (plus transport & stay)

Day 1 · Wed, Mar 25
Manali (Mall Road area)

Arrival, settling in and evening at Mall Road

Morning:

Since you arrive today and it's already late morning, take it easy with a relaxed stroll to Vashisht Village to warm up-sip chai at a local tapri and soak in views of the river and hot springs. Pop into the quaint Vashisht Temples and explore a few artisan shops, then head back toward Mall Road, stopping at a cozy hostel café (many near Old Manali) for a light lunch and to check in, drop bags, and plan the afternoon.

Afternoon:

After checking in and a light lunch, wander through the leafy lanes toward Old Manali Café Street, where you can relax with a hot Masala chai or coffee at a backpacker-friendly café and watch local life unfold. From there, stroll to the peaceful Manal Riverfront (Beas River banks) for gentle riverside walking, light photography and maybe a short bench-side read; wrap up by visiting a nearby local handicraft shop to pick up woollens or souvenirs before freshening up for an evening on Mall Road.

Evening:

As daylight softens, head to Mall Road for a relaxed stroll-browse quirky bookshops and street stalls, stop for a warm thupka at Johnson's Café (Mall Road branch) or a steaming cup at Cafe 1947 terrace to watch the town light up. Finish with a soothing walk up to the quiet viewpoint near Ghatotkacha Temple for panoramic dusk views of the snow-dusted ridge, then return to your hostel in Old Manali for an early night or a low-key bonfire if available.

Day 2 · Thu, Mar 26
Manali and Solang/Atal Tunnel route

Local sightseeing: Hidimba Temple and Atal Tunnel excursion

Morning:

Start your day with a gentle breakfast at a hostel café in Old Manali before heading out to explore the peaceful wooded glade around Hidimba Temple, where you can admire the ancient pagoda-style shrine and stroll the surrounding cedar forest trails. After a short tea break at a riverside tapri near Jogini Falls viewpoint, catch a shared taxi or local cab toward the Rohtang/Atal Tunnel route (shared taxi approx. INR 200-400 per person to Kullu/entry point) and enjoy sweeping Himalayan valley views as you prepare for the midday drive through the tunnel.

Afternoon:

After a morning at Hidimba Temple and a short drive toward the Atal Tunnel, spend the afternoon exploring the high-altitude playground of Solang Valley - try a gentle gondola ride for panoramic views, rent a scooter or hire a short guided ATV stint (budget ~INR 300-700) for easy thrills, and warm up with momos and chai at the slope-side stalls. Later, take a scenic photo stop at the roadside viewpoint near Sheep Lake outlook for sweeping valley vistas before heading back toward Manali, allowing time to relax at a riverside café in Old Manali and dry out any wet gear before evening.

Evening:

After returning toward town as the light softens, unwind with a gentle riverside walk along the quieter stretch near Raja Bazaar Bridge, then settle at Café Verde (Old Manali branch) for a hot thukpa or local rajma chawal and a chance to chat with fellow travelers. End the night with a short, peaceful climb to the Chamunda Devi viewpoint for a clear stargazing spot and sprawling night views of Manali's lights before heading back to your hostel for rest.
