Mumbai Train Travel Itinerary for 2026-04-01

Day 1 · Wed, Apr 1
Mumbai

South Mumbai sights and local train journey

12:00 PM:

Head toward Churchgate Station and ride a Churchgate-bound local train to soak in Mumbai's commuter rhythm from a reserved window or the ladies/general compartment as applicable. If you're ready for a quick lunch, stop at Bademiya near Colaba for kebabs or grab a breezy seafood meal at Trishna before continuing.

1:00 PM:

Arrive at Marine Lines and take a relaxed waterfront walk along Marine Drive, enjoying sea views and the classic South Mumbai promenade vibe. Pause at Pizza by the Bay or Gaylord for a leisurely lunch before heading back to the station.

2:00 PM:

Ride the local train toward Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and step out to admire its Gothic architecture and busy platform energy. Spend a little time photographing the façade and the heritage streets around Fort.

3:00 PM:

Continue by train to Masjid Bunder for a quick transfer into the old-city atmosphere, then explore the bustling lanes near Crawford Market. If you want a snack break, stop at Britannia & Co. for a classic Parsi-style bite or sip a cold drink nearby.

4:00 PM:

Take a short train hop back toward Churchgate and unwind with a calm stop at Hutatma Chowk and the nearby art-deco streets. This is a good window to browse a few local shops or simply watch the evening commuter rush begin.

5:00 PM:

Ride a local train toward Charni Road and step out for a relaxed wander along the Girgaum Chowpatty seafront as the light softens over the Arabian Sea. If you want a snack, try Bhel Puri or Pav Bhaji from a well-known stall nearby for a classic Mumbai evening bite.

6:00 PM:

Head by train to Grant Road and explore the colorful lanes around Lamington Road for an easygoing look at old-school city energy. For dinner, settle into Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR) or Delhi Zaika if you're in the mood for a hearty vegetarian meal.

7:00 PM:

Continue to Lower Parel for a smoother, modern contrast and spend time at Phoenix Palladium or High Street Phoenix browsing shops and enjoying the lively evening crowd. This is also a good window to catch a coffee break at Blue Tokai or a dessert stop before heading out again.

8:00 PM:

Take the train to Dadar and end the day with a flavorful street-food dinner at the iconic Aaswad or Prakash Shakahari Upahar Kendra. If you still have energy, stroll through Shivaji Park for a calm final look at Mumbai's night skyline before heading back.
