Manali to Sissu, Atal Tunnel, Solang Valley, and Sethan Valley Day Trip Itinerary

Day 1 · Wed, May 13
Manali

Manali Valley sightseeing loop

Morning

Yes — for 13 May 2026, you can comfortably do Hadimba Devi Temple, Solang Valley, Atal Tunnel, Sissu Waterfall, and Sethan Valley in one long but manageable day, especially since you’re skipping adventure sports. I’d strongly suggest leaving your hotel in Manali town by 7:00 AM sharp so you beat the traffic buildup on the Manali–Solang road and have enough daylight for the higher-altitude stops. Start with Hadimba Devi Temple in Old Manali around 7:10–7:55 AM — early morning is best here because it’s quiet, the cedar forest feels fresh, and you can get through the visit in about 45 minutes without rushing. If you want a tea stop nearby, grab something simple around Old Manali Market or on the way up, but keep it short so you stay on schedule.

Midday on the mountain side

From there, drive straight to Solang Valley viewpoint for a quick scenic stop around 8:45–9:30 AM. Since you don’t want adventure activities, this is really just for the open valley views and a few photos; in May it’s usually busy, so don’t linger too long. Continue through the route toward the Atal Tunnel and stop at the north portal side near Sissu around 10:15–10:45 AM — the landscape changes fast once you cross, and the views on the Sissu side feel very different from Manali side. After that, head to Sissu Waterfall, which is the best natural stop on this loop, and plan about 11:00 AM–12:00 PM there. For lunch, this is the right zone to keep it simple and local — small dhabas and cafés around Sissu village usually serve rajma-chawal, maggi, parathas, tea, and thukpa, and you can expect a casual meal to cost roughly ₹250–₹500 per person.

Afternoon return via Sethan

Begin the return journey after lunch and drive toward Sethan Valley for a quieter finish, ideally reaching around 2:30–3:30 PM. Sethan is slower-paced than Solang, with wide Himalayan views and a more peaceful feel; it’s a good place to walk around for an hour without doing any adventure sports. Roads can be narrow and the weather shifts quickly in the afternoon, so keep an eye on the time and avoid staying too late in case clouds move in. By around 4:30–5:00 PM, start heading back toward Manali.

Evening

For dinner, finish at The Corner House or Cafe 1947 in Old Manali around 6:30–8:00 PM. Both are easy, relaxed final stops after a mountain day; expect ₹500–₹1,000 per person depending on what you order, with Cafe 1947 being especially pleasant if you want a riverside, sit-down end to the day. If traffic is light, you should be back at your hotel in Manali city around 7:30–8:30 PM. My practical advice: keep the day vehicle-based, carry water, sunscreen, a light jacket, and some cash for small roadside stops, and don’t try to stretch the Sissu side too much — the full loop is doable, but only if you leave early and keep each stop tight.
