Motorcycle Riding Itinerary for Indore and Ujjain in December 2023

  1. Day 1: Indore City Tour
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Indore Airport

    In the morning, visit the Lal Bagh Palace, which was once the residence of the Holkar dynasty. Later, explore the famous Kanch Mandir, a Jain temple made entirely of glass. In the afternoon, ride to Rajwada, a seven-storied historic palace in the heart of Indore. End the day with a visit to the Sarafa Bazaar, a food street full of shops selling delicious street food and local delicacies.

  2. Day 2: Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary
    30 minutes (12 km) from Indore City Centre

    In the morning, ride to the Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Enjoy a nature walk and spot some rare species such as leopards, spotted deer, and peacocks. In the afternoon, visit the Patalpani Waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

  3. Day 3: Ujjain City Tour
    1 hour 20 minutes (56 km) from Indore City Centre

    In the morning, ride to Ujjain and visit the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. Later, explore the Harsiddhi Temple, one of the Shaktipeeths of India. In the evening, take a dip in the holy Kshipra River and witness the grand aarti at the Ram Ghat.

  4. Day 4: Kal Bhairav Temple and Sandipani Ashram
    20 minutes (9.5 km) from Ujjain City Centre

    In the morning, visit the Kal Bhairav Temple, dedicated to one of the fierce forms of Lord Shiva. Later, visit the Sandipani Ashram, where Lord Krishna and Sudama studied together. In the evening, explore the local markets and try some of the famous Ujjaini chaats.

  5. Day 5: Omkareshwar
    2 hours 30 minutes (140 km) from Ujjain City Centre

    In the morning, ride to Omkareshwar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India. Take a dip in the holy Narmada River and visit the Omkareshwar Temple, which is located on an island in the middle of the river. In the afternoon, explore the local markets and try some of the famous Malwa cuisine.

  6. Day 6: Return to Indore
    2 hours (80 km) from Omkareshwar

    In the morning, ride back to Indore and explore any spots you missed on the first day. In the afternoon, visit the Chhatris, a group of royal cenotaphs dedicated to the Holkar rulers. End the day with a relaxing ride along the banks of the Khan River.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, you can visit Mandu, a ruined city in the Dhar district. You can also take a detour to Maheshwar, a town known for its handloom sarees and the Maheshwar Fort. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry all the necessary safety gear, such as helmets and riding gloves. Also, keep an eye on the weather conditions and avoid riding during extreme weather. Lastly, try some of the local sweets, such as gajak and mawa-bati, before leaving Indore and Ujjain.
