In the morning, visit the Sarnath Archaeological Museum to learn about the history of Buddhism. Afterward, visit the ancient ruins of the Dhamek Stupa and the Chaukhandi Stupa. Spend the afternoon at Deer Park, where Buddha gave his first sermon. Finally, enjoy the sunset at the Japanese Temple, which has a beautiful garden and a large bell presented by the Japanese Emperor in 1954.
In the morning, head to Chunar Fort, which is perched on a rock overlooking the Ganges river. The fort dates back to the 11th century and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Spend the afternoon at Vindhyachal, a picturesque town located at the foothills of the Vindhyachal mountain range. Visit the Vindhyavasini Devi Temple and take a dip in the holy Kund before enjoying the sunset by the river.
If you have extra time, consider visiting the Ramnagar Fort, which is located on the opposite bank of the Ganges river. You can take a boat ride to get there and explore the 17th-century fort and its museum. Another great side trip is to go to Varanasi and take a boat ride on the Ganges to witness the evening Aarti ceremony. As for maximizing your fun, try some of the local street food, such as chaat and lassi, and shop for silk sarees and Banarasi paan. Finally, make sure to stay hydrated and wear comfortable shoes as some of the sites require walking up stairs and uneven terrain.
