To get around the island, visitors can rent a car or use public transportation. Taxis are also available, but can be quite expensive. Expect to spend about $50 a day for a car rental, and up to $30 per person for a taxi ride to and from the airport. Keep in mind that traffic can be heavy, especially during peak hours.
If you have more time, consider taking a day trip to the neighboring island of Anguilla. You can also visit the famous Maho Beach to watch planes land and take off from Princess Juliana International Airport. If you have less time, consider skipping Marigot Market or a day at one of the beaches.
Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) is located on the Dutch side of the island, about 10 minutes from Simpson Bay Beach. The airport is the main gateway to the island and serves several airlines, including Delta, American, and JetBlue.
