A relaxed night stroll with the best illuminated gardens scene in the city; night, ~1 hour.

  5. Cedele at Marina Bay Link Mall — Marina Bay

Arrival rhythm: settle in, then head for the bay

For your first proper look at Singapore, ease into the afternoon with Cedele at Marina Bay Link Mall. It’s a very practical first stop if you’ve just landed or checked in nearby: clean, air-conditioned, and easy for a coffee, pastry, or light sandwich without committing to a big meal. Expect roughly S$8–18 per person, and it’s usually a good reset point before you head out. From here, it’s a short walk or quick MRT hop to the Marina Bay waterfront, and you’ll start feeling the city open up around you.

Late afternoon: classic Singapore views

Go next to Merlion Park for the iconic skyline-and-bay photo, ideally in the late afternoon when the light is softer and the heat is easing off. This is a quick stop—30–45 minutes is plenty—but it’s one of those places that gives you your bearings immediately: Marina Bay, the water, the towers, the whole postcard view. From the park, it’s an easy walk toward Marina Bay Sands, so you don’t need to waste time on transit unless the weather turns.

Early evening: skyline from above, then dinner Singapore-style

Head up to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck for sunset if you can; that’s when the city really starts to glow, and the bay lights switch on in layers. Plan for about 1 hour including queuing and photos, and book ahead if possible—walk-up tickets can be pricier or sold out on busy evenings. After that, make your way to Lau Pa Sat in the Downtown Core for dinner. It’s one of the best first-night hawker experiences in the city, with satay smoke drifting out onto the street in the evening. A solid meal here usually runs S$10–20 per person; if you want the most local-feeling move, get satay, maybe a plate of hokkien mee or chicken rice, and don’t overthink it.

Night: finish with a garden walk

End the day with a relaxed stroll through Gardens by the Bay (Supertree Grove). The evening lighting makes it feel almost surreal, and it’s the best way to wind down after dinner without needing to “do” much. Give yourself around 1 hour—just enough to wander, take photos, and let the first day settle in. If you’re still not ready to call it a night, you can always loop back for one more coffee or dessert, but this itinerary already gives you a strong, very Singapore introduction without packing the day too tightly.
