Family Friendly 5-Day Itinerary for Manali in December 2023

  1. Day 1: Hadimba Temple
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Manali Bus Stand

    Begin your first day in Manali exploring the beautiful Hadimba Temple, built-in 1553 AD. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Hadimba, wife of Bhima and mother of Ghatotkacha. Enjoy the cool morning breeze and serene surroundings. Afternoon, head to Manali Nature Park, which is only 5 minutes (1.3 km) from the temple. The park has a variety of flora and fauna and offers a great view of the mountains. In the evening, head to Mall Road, located 20 minutes (5 km) from the park, to enjoy some street shopping and local cuisines.

  2. Day 2: Solang Valley
    25 minutes (13.1 km) from Mall Road

    Spend your day in the adventure-packed Solang Valley. Start with paragliding, zorbing, and skiing in the morning. The valley is known for its beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains and lush greenery. For lunch, try some local delicacies at one of the many cafes in the valley.   4. Day 4: Naggar Castle

    Take a trip to the beautiful Naggar Castle, located in the Naggar village. The castle was built-in 1460 AD by Raja Sidh Singh and is now converted into a heritage hotel. Enjoy the beautiful views of the Kullu valley from the castle. For lunch, try some local dishes at the Castle Restaurant. In the afternoon, head to the Roerich Art Gallery, located 10 minutes (2.5 km) from the castle. The gallery showcases the paintings and artwork of the famous Russian artist, Nicholas Roerich. In the evening, head to the Jana waterfall, located 30 minutes (10.4 km) from the gallery. The waterfall is surrounded by apple orchards and has a height of 30 feet.

  5. Day 5: Snow Point
    2.5 hours (53.4 km) from Manali Bus Stand

    Spend your last day in Manali enjoying the snow at the famous Snow Point. The place is known for its beautiful views of the snow-capped mountains and is covered with snow all year round. Try some adventure sports like skiing, snowboarding, and sledging. For lunch, head to the Snow Point Cafe. In the afternoon, head back to Manali and visit the Van Vihar National Park, located 20 minutes (1.5 km) from the bus stand. The park has a variety of flora and fauna and offers a great view of the Beas river. In the evening, head to the Tibetan Monastery, located 10 minutes (2 km) from the park, to witness the beautiful architecture and culture of the Tibetan people.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, consider visiting the nearby towns of Naggar, Kullu, and Kasol. You can also take a day trip to the famous Rohtang Pass and enjoy the beautiful views of the Himalayas. To maximize your fun, try to participate in some adventure sports like river rafting, rock climbing, and camping. Don't forget to try some of the local delicacies like Dham, Sidu, and Thukpa.
