2-Day Kota Trip Itinerary from 7 June 2026

Day 1 · Sun, Jun 7
Kota, Rajasthan

Kota City Highlights and Riverside Route

  1. Kota Junction → Hotel/Drop at city center (Transport, Kota Railway Station area) — Arrive by 6:00 AM, take a cab/auto to the hotel or city-center base in 20–30 min; freshen up and keep luggage short-stay. (~30–45 min)
  2. Seven Wonders Park (Anantpura / Kishore Sagar area) — A quick iconic start with miniature world landmarks and good morning light for photos. (Reach ~7:00 AM, ~1 hour)
  3. Kishore Sagar & Jag Mandir (Kishore Sagar Lake) — Enjoy the lakefront, then visit Jag Mandir for the classic Kota royal-water setting. (Reach ~8:15 AM, ~1.5 hours)
  4. 7 World Bhandar (near city center/market area) — Good for a budget breakfast/snacks stop; local food keeps the day affordable. (Reach ~10:00 AM, ~45 min, approx. ₹150–₹250 per person)
  5. Chambal River Front (Riverside / Kota South area) — Spend the late morning walking the promenade, viewing the river, and relaxing at the modern waterfront. (Reach ~11:00 AM, ~2 hours)
  6. Dinner at Jodhpur Mishthan Bhandar (Gumanpura / city market area) — Finish with a reliable Kota meal/snacks stop; easy and budget-friendly for two. (Reach ~7:30 PM, ~1 hour, approx. ₹200–₹350 per person)

Morning

Reach Kota Junction by 6:00 AM and take an auto/cab to your city-center hotel in Station Road / Gumanpura / Nayapura for a quick freshen-up; it usually takes 20–30 minutes depending on traffic and costs about ₹80–₹150 by auto or a bit more by cab. Keep luggage at the hotel or use short-stay storage if available, because the day moves best with light bags. By 7:00 AM, head straight to Seven Wonders Park in the Anantpura / Kishore Sagar side for about 1 hour. Morning is the best time here because the light is softer, the heat is still manageable, and you can get clean photos without the crowd. Entry is usually low-cost, around ₹20–₹30 per person, and you can walk the whole area comfortably without rushing.

Late Morning

By around 8:15 AM, continue to Kishore Sagar & Jag Mandir. This is the prettiest part of Kota for a relaxed start: lake views, old-royal atmosphere, and the little island structure of Jag Mandir that makes the whole scene feel very Kota. Spend about 1.5 hours here, especially if you want photos around the water and a slow walk along the edge. Boat rides are sometimes available depending on operations, so ask locally at the lake side; if running, they’re usually affordable and worth it for two people. Around 10:00 AM, stop at 7 World Bhandar near the city-center/market side for breakfast or snacks. It’s a good budget break, with a total spend around ₹150–₹250 per person if you keep it simple with poha, kachori, chai, or a light combo, and it takes about 45 minutes including ordering and sitting down.

Afternoon

At about 11:00 AM, move to Chambal River Front in the riverfront / Kota South area and spend roughly 2 hours there. This is one of the best modern public spaces in Kota—wide promenades, river views, open walking stretches, and plenty of spots to sit for a while. It’s especially pleasant if you keep it slow, because mid-day heat in June gets intense; carry water, sunscreen, and an umbrella or cap. Auto/cab between the city-center side and the riverfront is usually 15–25 minutes, depending on where you’re staying. If you want to keep the full day under ₹6000 for two, this route works well: local transport, one light breakfast stop, a simple lunch from a nearby dhaba or thali place, and a budget dinner later in the evening.

Evening

Return to the hotel to rest through the hottest part of the day, then go out for dinner around 7:30 PM at Jodhpur Mishthan Bhandar in Gumanpura / the city market area. It’s a dependable, affordable stop for Kota-style snacks and a proper meal, and for two people you can usually keep dinner around ₹400–₹700 total depending on what you order. If you still have energy, do a short market stroll afterward around Gumanpura or Station Road before heading back. For the whole Day 1, a comfortable budget estimate for 2 people is roughly ₹2,000–₹3,200 total including local transport, entry fees, breakfast, and dinner, so you’ll stay well under your ₹6000 target while still covering the main Kota highlights in a relaxed, practical way.

Day 2 · Mon, Jun 8
Kota, Rajasthan

Kota Temples and Heritage Spots

  1. Garadia Mahadev Temple (near Kota, Dhaulpur-side river gorge route) — Go early for the best views and cooler weather; it’s the standout scenic temple experience near Kota. (Reach ~6:30 AM, ~2 hours including viewpoint time)
  2. Kota Barrage (Chambal river stretch) — A smooth follow-up for river engineering views and a calm photo stop on the way back. (Reach ~9:00 AM, ~45 min)
  3. Abheda Mahal & Abheda Biological Park area (Abheda / outskirts) — Heritage-meets-green stop with palace ruins and a relaxed paced visit. (Reach ~10:15 AM, ~1.5 hours)
  4. City Palace / Maharao Madho Singh Museum (Old Kota / palace area) — Best for Kota’s royal history, artifacts, and architecture. (Reach ~12:00 PM, ~1.5 hours)
  5. The Yellow Chilli Kota / a similar city-center restaurant (Gumanpura / shopping area) — Lunch break with decent variety; keep it simple and budget-conscious. (Reach ~1:45 PM, ~1 hour, approx. ₹250–₹400 per person)
  6. Mahaveer Nagar market stroll + tea/snacks (Mahaveer Nagar) — End with a light shopping/tea stop before departure, keeping the evening flexible. (Reach ~3:15 PM, ~1–1.5 hours)

Morning

Start Garadia Mahadev Temple very early so you catch the river gorge in soft light and before the heat builds up. From Kota city, plan to leave by 5:45 AM if you’re freshening up near Station Road / Gumanpura / Nayapura; the drive is roughly 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic and your exact pickup point, and the last stretch is a bit rural, so an auto is not ideal — go by cab or your own bike. Reach around 6:30 AM and spend about 2 hours here: walk to the main viewpoint, sit for the wide Chambal bend, and visit the temple itself without rushing. Entry is usually free or very nominal, but keep ₹20–₹50 aside for parking and small offerings. Bring water, sunscreen, and decent footwear, because the rocks and edges can get slippery if you wander too close for photos.

By 8:45 AM, head back toward the city for Kota Barrage and reach around 9:00 AM for a 45-minute stop. This is a good “breather” spot — less about temple-style sightseeing and more about the scale of the Chambal system and the calm river views. It’s an easy photo stop, especially if you like bridges, water, and open skyline shots. From here, continue to Abheda Mahal & Abheda Biological Park area and reach around 10:15 AM; spend about 1.5 hours walking the palace side and the greener parts nearby. The palace area gives you a little heritage feel without becoming too formal, and the park side is a nice slowdown before the city’s busier attractions.

Afternoon

Arrive at City Palace / Maharao Madho Singh Museum by around 12:00 PM and keep 1.5 hours for the museum and palace complex. This is the best place to understand Kota’s royal side — the architecture, old weapons, paintings, and family history make more sense once you’ve already seen the river and the outskirts. Check the entry ticket at the gate; it’s usually budget-friendly, but carry cash just in case. After that, move to The Yellow Chilli Kota or a similar Gumanpura city-center restaurant for lunch around 1:45 PM. For two people, you can keep lunch around ₹500–₹800 total if you stay sensible with ordering — think one curry, one roti basket, rice, and a drink. If you want even cheaper options, nearby Gumanpura and Rajeev Gandhi Nagar have plenty of simple thali and snack places, but for comfort and ease, this lunch break is a good call.

Evening

After lunch, go for a relaxed Mahaveer Nagar market stroll and reach around 3:15 PM. Spend 1 to 1.5 hours here browsing local shops, picking up small souvenirs, and stopping for tea or snacks — this is the part of the day where you don’t need a strict plan. A couple of cutting chai, lassi, or a quick snack should keep the cost low, usually ₹100–₹250 for two depending on what you pick. The whole day can comfortably stay under ₹6000 for two people if you use one cab or a mix of auto/cab smartly, eat moderately, and skip unnecessary extras; your biggest spend will be the car transfers between Garadia Mahadev, the city stops, and the return. If you want, I can also turn this into a full 2-day Kota budget plan with transport, food, and entry fees split for both days.
