Jammu 2-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Bahu Fort
    15 minutes (3.6 km) from Jammu Tawi Railway Station

    Start off your day with a visit to the historic Bahu Fort, located on the outskirts of Jammu. The fort offers a beautiful view of the Tawi river and the city of Jammu. In the morning, explore the fort's museum, which houses several paintings, sculptures and inscriptions from the Dogra period. In the afternoon, take a walk in the well-manicured gardens and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. In the evening, catch the sound and light show that highlights the history of the fort.

  2. Day 2: Raghunath Bazaar
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Bahu Fort

    Spend your second day exploring Jammu's colourful and bustling Raghunath Bazaar. This market is a great place to buy souvenirs and handicrafts, such as traditional Pashmina shawls, wooden carvings and metalwork. In the morning, start at the top of the market and work your way down; be sure to visit the beautiful Raghunath Temple, which is the biggest temple complex in North India. In the afternoon, treat yourself to some delicious street food like the famous Gol Gappas or Bhalla Papdi Chaat. In the evening, take a stroll through the market and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day in Jammu, consider visiting the stunning Vaishno Devi temple, which is located in the nearby town of Katra. It is one of the holiest Hindu shrines in India and attracts millions of pilgrims every year. Another great side trip is to the beautiful Patnitop hill station, which is about a two-hour drive from Jammu.
