From Zvornik to Herceg Novi: River Valleys to Adriatic Vistas

Route: Zvornik (BiH) → Vlasenica (via M19) → Foča (M20) → Podgorica (E762/A1) → Nikšić (E762) → Budva (E65/E80) → Herceg Novi (E65/E80). Plan: cross into Montenegro near Foča region, follow main roads southwest through Podgorica and along the coast to Herceg Novi.

Day 1 — Zvornik to Foča (Drive)

Drive southeast from Zvornik through river valleys to Vlasenica and onward to Foča. Scenic mountain roads and river views, opportunity to stop at small towns and viewpoints. (Fuel ~€20–€35, 3.5–4 hours driving, 180 km)

Day 1 — Afternoon in Foča

Day 2 — Foča to Podgorica (Cross into Montenegro)

Day 2 — Evening in Podgorica

Day 3 — Podgorica to Nikšić to Budva (Coastal approach)

Drive along the Adriatic coast via the E65/E80, passing Kotor Bay—consider a detour into Kotor for bay viewpoints—then continue to Herceg Novi at the bay entrance. (Fuel/tolls ~€15–€25, 1.5–2.5 hours without long detours)

Day 4 — Arrival in Herceg Novi

12:00PM: Explore Herceg Novi

Wander Forte Mare, the Old Town (Stari Grad), climb Kanli Kula for views, and stroll the pine-lined coastal promenade. Try local seafood at a konoba. (Sightseeing mostly free; meals €12–€25, 3–4 hours)
