7-Day Itinerary for Shillong in May 2024

  1. Day 1: Umiam Lake
    25 minutes (10.6 km) from Shillong

    Start your trip with a visit to the serene Umiam Lake. Enjoy the morning by boating, kayaking or simply taking a stroll around the lake. In the afternoon, head towards Lum Sohpetbneng Peak, the highest point in Shillong, for a breathtaking view of the city.   2. Day 2: Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls
    23 minutes (10.4 km) from Umiam Lake

    Start your day by visiting the Shillong Peak, the highest point in the city, offering a panoramic view of the entire city. Then head towards the picturesque Elephant Falls, surrounded by lush greenery.   4. Day 4: Laitlum Canyons and Mawsynram
    2 hours (24.5 km) from Shillong Peak

    Explore the stunning Laitlum Canyons in the morning. After admiring the breathtaking views, head towards Mawsynram, the wettest place on earth, to experience the beautiful natural surroundings. In the afternoon, visit the Mawjymbuin Cave, filled with natural formations of stalactites and stalagmites. In the evening, head back to Shillong.

  5. Day 5: David Scott Trail and All Saints Church
    50 minutes (16.8 km) from Mawsynram

    Spend the morning trekking the David Scott Trail, an ancient trail used by the British. Enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding hills and villages. Recommendations

If you have extra days, visit Cherrapunji to see some of the most amazing waterfalls and caves. You can also take a day trip to Jowai, a small town known for its beautiful landscapes and traditional markets.
