5-Day Adventure Itinerary for Waynadu in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    40 minutes (14.7 miles) from Kalpetta

    Begin your adventure by hiking to the top of Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Waynadu. The trek takes around 3 hours, and the view from the top is breathtaking. In the afternoon, head to Soochipara Falls, a beautiful three-tiered waterfall and take a dip in the natural pool. In the evening, visit the Edakkal Caves, a prehistoric site with ancient carvings.

  2. Day 2: Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary
    50 minutes (20.5 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your day with a safari through the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to tigers, elephants, leopards, and a variety of other wildlife. In the afternoon, visit the Kuruva Island, a serene and beautiful island amidst the Kabani river, and enjoy a picnic.   3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam

    Start your day by visiting the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India and enjoy boating and trekking. In the afternoon, visit the Meenmutty Falls, a stunning three-tiered waterfall that requires a 2 km trek through the forest. In the evening, head to the Lakkidi View Point, the highest point in Waynadu, and enjoy the panoramic view of the valley below.

  4. Day 4: Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary
    2 hours (47.2 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your day by visiting the Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary, a remote and serene place that is home to a wide variety of birds and animals. In the afternoon, visit the Wayanad Heritage Museum and learn about the rich history and culture of Waynadu. In the evening, head to the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

  5. Day 5: Brahmagiri Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (42.5 miles) from Kalpetta

    End your adventure by trekking to the top of Brahmagiri Peak, which is located on the border of Waynadu and Karnataka. The trek takes around 6 hours and is challenging but rewarding. In the afternoon, visit the Pazhassi Raja Tomb, a historical monument dedicated to the legendary king of Waynadu. In the evening, head to the Pookode Lake, a beautiful and serene lake surrounded by forests.
