2-Day Nature Itinerary for Goa, Igatpuri, and Lonavala in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Goa
    2 hours 26 minutes (92.7 miles) from Mumbai

    In the morning, head to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls to witness the breathtaking falls in all their glory. Afternoon can be spent at the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of animals including Indian bison, spotted deer, and black-faced langurs. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll at the Arambol Beach, known for its calm and serene atmosphere.

  2. Day 2: Igatpuri and Lonavala
    5 hours 30 minutes (200.1 miles) from Goa

    Start your day with a trek to the Kalsubai Peak, the highest peak in Maharashtra. The morning trek offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Afternoon can be spent at the Bhatsa River Valley, known for its picturesque views and lush greenery. In the evening, head to the Rajmachi Fort to catch a glimpse of the stunning sunset and panoramic views of the Sahyadri mountains.

Recommendations

If you have more time in Goa, do not miss out on visiting the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, known to have over 400 species of birds. Another side trip from Igatpuri can be to the Tringalwadi Fort or the Vaitarna Dam, both offering unique experiences. Make sure to carry comfortable shoes and plenty of water for the treks.

Maximize your fun by trying out some of the local Goan cuisine such as the fish curry or the pork vindaloo. Do not miss out on the famous Solkadhi, a refreshing drink made with coconut milk and kokum. In Igatpuri and Lonavala, make sure to carry a camera to capture the stunning views.
