One-Day Itinerary for Goa

  1. 9:00AM: Basilica of Bom Jesus
    10 minutes (3.2 km) from Panaji

    Start your day by visiting the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest churches in India. Marvel at the Baroque architecture and the exquisite interiors of the church which houses the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier.

  2. 10:30AM: Fort Aguada
    18 minutes (6.5 km) from Basilica of Bom Jesus

    Next, head to Fort Aguada, a 17th-century Portuguese fort which offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. Walk around the fortifications and explore the lighthouse and the underground prison.

  3. 12:30PM: Anjuna Beach
    30 minutes (14 km) from Fort Aguada

    For lunch, head to Anjuna Beach, a popular beach known for its flea market and shacks serving delicious seafood. Relax on the beach, swim in the sea or indulge in water sports.

  4. 3:00PM: Chapora Fort
    14 minutes (6.3 km) from Anjuna Beach

    After lunch, visit the Chapora Fort, a 16th-century Portuguese fort which offers stunning views of the Vagator Beach and the Arabian Sea. The fort is also famous for being featured in the Bollywood movie "Dil Chahta Hai".

  5. 4:30PM: Calangute Beach
    23 minutes (9.8 km) from Chapora Fort

    End your day by visiting Calangute Beach, the largest beach in Goa which offers a range of water sports and activities. Enjoy the sunset, stroll on the beach or simply relax and soak in the Goan vibe.

You might also consider taking a day trip to the neighbouring state of Karnataka to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi, or to the Dudhwa National Park for a wildlife safari.

To maximize your fun, try to plan your itinerary according to the season. Goa is best visited from November to February when the weather is pleasant and the sea is calm. You can also plan your trip around the festivals and events which take place throughout the year, such as the Carnival, the Feast of St. Francis Xavier or the International Film Festival of India.
