Chardham Yatra in July 2024

  1. Day 1: Yamunotri
    5 hours (140 km) from Dehradun

    Visit the Yamunotri temple in the morning to seek blessings. Take a dip in the natural hot water spring at Janki Chatti in the afternoon. In the evening, admire the scenic beauty of the mountains on your way back to Barkot.

  2. Day 2: Gangotri
    5 hours (160 km) from Barkot

    Offer prayers at the Gangotri temple in the morning. Take a dip in the holy Bhagirathi river and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains in the afternoon. In the evening, explore the nearby villages and try the local cuisine.

  3. Day 3: Kedarnath
    8 hours (250 km) from Gangotri

    Start your day early and reach Gaurikund to begin your trek to Kedarnath. Reach the Kedarnath temple by afternoon and offer prayers to Lord Shiva. Spend the evening exploring the scenic beauty of the Himalayas and stay overnight in Kedarnath.

  4. Day 4: Kedarnath to Badrinath
    8 hours (240 km) from Kedarnath

    After breakfast, begin your journey towards Badrinath. Stop at Rudraprayag to witness the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Reach Badrinath by evening and visit the Badrinath temple. Spend the rest of the evening exploring the nearby markets and shops.

  5. Day 5: Badrinath to Joshimath
    1 hour (45 km) from Badrinath

    Visit the Mana village, the last village before the Indo-Tibetan border, in the morning. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Himalayas at Auli in the afternoon. Reach Joshimath by evening and visit the Kalpavriksha and Narsingh temples.

  6. Day 6: Departure
    9 hours (280 km) from Joshimath to Dehradun

    Begin your journey back to Dehradun after breakfast and reach by evening.

Recommendations

Aside from the chardham yatra, there are several other local attractions such as the Rajaji National Park and the Robber's Cave. You can also take a side trip to Mussoorie, also known as the Queen of Hills. To maximize your fun, try local foods such as Aloo ke Gutke and Bal Mithai. Additionally, make sure to carry necessary warm clothing and comfortable shoes for the yatra.
