Begin your first day in South India by visiting the iconic Golconda Fort. Built in the 16th century, the fort is a testament to the architectural brilliance of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. In the morning, explore the fort and marvel at the intricate design and engineering. After lunch, visit the nearby Qutub Shahi Tombs. These tombs are dedicated to the seven Qutub Shahi rulers and are a fine example of Persian and Indian architectural styles. In the evening, visit the Charminar, the iconic monument of Hyderabad and soak in the bustling atmosphere of the surrounding markets.

  2. Day 2: Explore the city of Chennai
1 hour 50 minutes (150 miles) by flight from Hyderabad

Start your day early and take a flight to Chennai. First, visit the Kapaleeswarar Temple, a stunning example of Dravidian architecture and one of the most popular landmarks in Chennai. In the afternoon, head to the Marina Beach, one of the longest urban beaches in the world. Take a stroll on the beach, enjoy local street food and watch a beautiful sunset over the Bay of Bengal. In the evening, visit Fort St. George, the first British fortress in India and now the headquarters of the Tamil Nadu government.

  3. Day 3: Visit the ancient city of Mahabalipuram
1 hour 40 minutes (34 miles) from Chennai

On your final day, take a trip to the ancient city of Mahabalipuram. Start your day with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Shore Temple. This temple is one of the oldest structural stone temples in South India, dating back to the 7th century. Afterward, head to the Pancha Rathas, a group of monolithic monuments carved out of pink granite rock. In the afternoon, take a refreshing dip in the Bay of Bengal at Mahabalipuram Beach. Before heading back to Chennai, visit the Krishna's Butterball, a giant granite boulder that defies gravity.
