Hanoi Itinerary from Bengaluru

Day 1 · Mon, Jul 13
Hanoi

Arrival in Hanoi

  1. Bengaluru → Hanoi (international flight) — Bengaluru to Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), ~4.5–5.5 hours nonstop if available; depart on the earliest practical flight, and plan for immigration plus a 30–60 minute taxi/Grab into the city after landing.
  2. Hoan Kiem Lake — Hoàn Kiếm District — A gentle first stop to shake off the flight and get your bearings beside Hanoi’s most iconic lake; late afternoon or early evening, ~45 minutes.
  3. St. Joseph’s Cathedral — Hoàn Kiếm District — A classic Hanoi landmark with lively streets around it, good for a quick photo stop and a short wander; evening, ~30–45 minutes.
  4. Bún chả Hương Liên — Hai Bà Trưng District — A famous, reliably busy spot to try Hanoi’s signature grilled pork noodles; dinner, ~45–60 minutes, about 120,000–200,000 VND per person.
  5. Dong Xuan Market area — Hoàn Kiếm / Old Quarter — End the day with an easy Old Quarter stroll for snacks, souvenirs, and atmosphere without committing to a long excursion; night, ~1 hour.

Arrival

Fly out of Bengaluru as early as you reasonably can so you land in Hanoi with enough daylight to reset your body clock. A nonstop to Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) is usually around 4.5–5.5 hours; if your routing has a connection, build in extra cushion because immigration queues can stretch after multiple international arrivals land together. Once you clear visa/immigration and baggage, plan on a 30–60 minute Grab or taxi into the city depending on traffic. For a smooth start, aim for a driver pickup from the official app/taxi stand rather than haggling at the curb, and expect to pay roughly 250,000–400,000 VND into the central districts.

Late Afternoon by the Lake

Check in, freshen up, and head to Hoan Kiem Lake for an easy first walk. This is the best way to shake off the flight: slow laps around the water, light breeze off the lake, and a soft introduction to the city’s rhythm. You don’t need a big agenda here—just 45 minutes is enough. If you’ve arrived in the late afternoon, this is when the light is nicest and the sidewalks are lively without feeling overwhelming. From most central hotels in Hoàn Kiếm District, you can usually get here on foot or by a short Grab ride.

Evening Around the Old Quarter

Continue to St. Joseph’s Cathedral, which is one of the prettiest quick stops in central Hanoi, especially as the area starts to glow in the evening. The streets nearby—especially the little lanes feeding into Nha Chung and the surrounding café cluster—are good for a short wander and a photo stop without overplanning. After that, go for dinner at Bún chả Hương Liên in Hai Bà Trưng District; this is the kind of first meal that tells you you’ve really arrived. Expect a busy room, quick service, and a proper Hanoi staple: grilled pork, herbs, broth, and noodles for about 120,000–200,000 VND per person. It’s usually easiest to reach by Grab from the cathedral area in around 10–20 minutes depending on traffic.

Night Stroll and Snacks

Finish the day with a relaxed walk around the Dong Xuan Market area and the edge of the Old Quarter. Come here for atmosphere more than shopping: late-night snack stalls, small souvenir shops, and the kind of street life that makes Hanoi feel awake even after dark. Keep your plans loose—an hour is enough to browse, snack, and people-watch before heading back. If you still have energy, duck into one of the nearby tea or dessert spots for something simple, then return to your hotel by Grab or on foot if you’re staying centrally.
