Start after sunrise at Gajanan Maharaj Temple, the spiritual heart of Shegaon. Aim to arrive around 6:00–7:00 a.m., when the town is already awake but the heat and later pilgrimage crowds have not yet built up. Allow about 1½ hours for darshan and the temple complex; schedules and queue arrangements can change on festival or Sunday days, so follow the Sansthan’s on-site instructions. Dress modestly, leave large bags and footwear in the designated areas, and keep some small cash handy for offerings. From most parts of central Shegaon, an auto-rickshaw takes roughly 10–15 minutes and usually costs about ₹30–₹80 depending on distance and negotiation.
After the temple, take an auto-rickshaw or e-rickshaw to Anand Sagar, located close to the Sansthan; the ride is generally 5–10 minutes. Spend around 2½ hours walking through the landscaped grounds, beside the lake, and around the viewpoints and devotional attractions. The gardens are much more comfortable before mid-afternoon, so carry water, wear comfortable footwear, and check the day’s opening and entry arrangements at the gate—hours and access can vary during monsoon maintenance or special religious dates. For lunch, stay within the complex at Anand Sagar Food Court, where simple vegetarian meals and refreshments are convenient and typically cost ₹150–₹300 per person. Keep the meal relaxed rather than rushed, as the grounds are spread out and some paths are best enjoyed slowly.
Return to Shegaon town centre by auto-rickshaw after lunch and take a proper break at a Local Cafe for tea, coffee, or a light snack—budget around ₹80–₹200 per person. There is no need to chase a particular café here; choose a clean, busy spot near the main market and temple approach roads, where turnover is good. In the evening, settle into a Local Restaurant in the town centre for a straightforward vegetarian Maharashtrian or North Indian dinner, usually ₹200–₹400 per person. Try a thali, bhaji-bhakri, poha, or a simple paneer preparation, and plan to finish around 8:00–9:00 p.m.; autos are easiest to find around the temple and central market, though arranging a return ride through your hotel is more reliable later at night.
