2-Day Nature Itinerary in Wayanad, Kerala, India in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (29.3 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your morning early and head to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. It is a 3-hour trek to reach the top, but the stunning views from the peak are worth it. The trek starts through dense forests and then you will reach the heart-shaped lake, which is a picturesque spot for taking photos. The trekking path is a bit challenging, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry plenty of water. After descending from the peak, you can have lunch at the nearby restaurants. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Soochipara Waterfalls, a 2-hour drive from Chembra Peak. The waterfall is surrounded by lush green forests and is a great spot for swimming or just relaxing. In the evening, return to Kalpetta for dinner and rest.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 10 minutes (26.7 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your day by visiting the Banasura Sagar Dam, the second-largest earth dam in Asia. The dam is located amidst the Banasura Hills and offers a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and water bodies. You can also enjoy boating here. After spending some time at the dam, head to the nearby Meenmutty Waterfalls, a 1-hour drive from the dam. The waterfall is a 2 km trek from the parking area through dense forests, but the view of the waterfall is worth the effort. After enjoying the waterfall, have lunch at the nearby restaurants. In the evening, visit the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, a 1-hour drive from the waterfall. The sanctuary is home to several wild animals like elephants, tigers, leopards, and deer. You can take a jeep safari to explore the sanctuary. In the evening, return to Kalpetta for dinner and rest.
