  • Day 1: Old Town

Transportation

Most of the city's main attractions are within walking distance of each other. Public transport options include buses and taxis. Taxis are relatively inexpensive, with fares starting at €1.50 and an additional €0.90 per kilometer. A bus ticket costs €1.20 and is valid for 90 minutes.

There are also rental car options available, with prices starting at around €20 per day. Keep in mind that Maribor has limited parking options, and parking can be difficult to find in the city center.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, consider taking a day trip to nearby cities such as Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia or the lovely spa town of Rogaška Slatina. If you have less time, you can skip the wine country day trip and instead add some outdoor activities in Pohorje or explore more of the Lent District.

Maribor Airport (MBX) is located approximately 9 km south of the city center. While it does offer some international flights, the majority of flights are domestic or regional. The nearest major international airport is Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU), located approximately 130 km southwest of Maribor.
