Jodhpur: 3-Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mehrangarh Fort
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Jodhpur Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, visit one of India's largest forts, Mehrangarh Fort, built in 1460 and situated 120 meters above the city. The fort consists of numerous palaces including Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, and Sheesh Mahal. In the afternoon, explore the museum in the fort which houses a collection of musical instruments, palanquins, furniture, and cannons. In the evening, attend the Sound and Light Show which narrates the history of the fort in a beautiful manner.

  2. Day 2: Jaswant Thada and Umaid Bhawan Palace
    20 minutes (5 km) from Mehrangarh Fort

    In the morning, visit Jaswant Thada, a white marble cenotaph built in 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The cenotaph is adorned with delicate carvings and offers a stunning view of the fort and the city. In the afternoon, explore Umaid Bhawan Palace, one of the largest private residences in the world and now a part of the Taj Group of Hotels. The palace is divided into three parts - a museum, the residence of the royal family, and a hotel. In the evening, enjoy a drink at the palace bar and witness the sunset from the palace terrace.

  3. Day 3: Mandore Gardens and Ghanta Ghar
    30 minutes (9 km) from Umaid Bhawan Palace

    In the morning, visit the Mandore Gardens, located 9 km north of Jodhpur. The garden is known for its cenotaphs, beautiful gardens, and the temple of 33 crore gods. In the afternoon, visit Ghanta Ghar, also known as the Clock Tower, which is located in the heart of Jodhpur. It was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1911 and is a popular landmark. The area around the tower is also known for its street food and shopping. In the evening, take a stroll around Sardar Market, a popular market that sells handicrafts, spices, and textiles.

Other local attractions worth considering are the Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, Kaylana Lake, and the government museum.

Side trips that can be considered are visiting the nearby blue city, Jodhpur Bishnoi Village Safari, or a desert safari.
