Niagara Falls Ontario Travel Itinerary

Day 1 · Thu, Aug 13
Niagara Falls, Ontario

Explore Niagara Falls

  1. Table Rock Centre — Fallsview; begin with the classic Horseshoe Falls viewpoints and visitor facilities (morning, ~1 hour).
  2. Journey Behind the Falls — Table Rock; descend behind the waterfall for a close-up experience (late morning, ~1.5 hours).
  3. Niagara City Cruises — Clifton Hill; take the boat cruise beneath the American and Horseshoe Falls (early afternoon, ~1.5 hours; arrive early for boarding).
  4. Queen Victoria Park — Fallsview; enjoy unobstructed riverside views and an easy walk between major attractions (mid-afternoon, ~1 hour).
  5. The Keg Steakhouse + Bar – Fallsview — Fallsview; finish with a reliable dinner overlooking the falls, approximately C$45–C$75 per person before drinks and gratuity (early evening, ~1.5 hours).
  6. Skylon Tower — Fallsview; see the illuminated falls and Niagara gorge from the observation deck after dark (evening, ~1 hour).

Morning

Start at Table Rock Centre around 8:30–9:00 a.m., when the Horseshoe Falls viewpoints are at their calmest and the light is good for photos. The public viewing areas are free, while the centre’s shops, food outlets, washrooms, and attractions open on varying schedules; allow about an hour for the railings, lookout areas, and a quick coffee. From there, Journey Behind the Falls is right next door—book a timed entry in advance if possible, especially in August. Expect roughly C$25–C$40 per adult depending on the date and package, and allow 1–1½ hours for the elevator descent, tunnels, and lower observation deck. You will get wet from spray, so wear shoes with grip and use the provided poncho.

Early Afternoon

Walk or take the WEGO bus toward Clifton Hill for Niagara City Cruises; the walk takes about 20 minutes along the Fallsview promenade, while WEGO is useful if you want to save your legs. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your assigned boarding time—the cruise itself is about 20 minutes, but the full visit commonly takes 1–1½ hours with queues. Adult tickets are generally around C$40–C$50, and ponchos are included. Afterward, return toward Queen Victoria Park for an easy mid-afternoon stroll along the river. This is the best place to slow down after the boat: benches, broad lawns, and uninterrupted views make it easy to linger, and you can walk back toward Fallsview without needing another attraction.

Evening

Have an early dinner at The Keg Steakhouse + Bar – Fallsview, ideally reserving a table around 5:30–6:00 p.m. Request a window or falls-facing table, but note that views are not guaranteed and the restaurant’s approximately C$45–C$75 per person estimate excludes drinks and gratuity. After dinner, walk or take a short WEGO ride to Skylon Tower for the illuminated falls. The observation deck is open late in summer, but check the exact 2026 hours and buy tickets online if the forecast is clear; admission is typically around C$20–C$25 per adult. Go after full darkness for the best colour and lighting, and bring a light layer—the tower and exposed viewing areas can feel noticeably cooler than the street.
