Give the island about 1½ hours for its pearl-culture museum, workshops, and ama-diver demonstrations; check the day’s performance timetable before entering, as demonstrations are scheduled rather than continuous. Admission is typically around ¥1,500–¥2,000 for adults, and the island is generally open from about 9:00 to 17:00, with seasonal variations. Keep this stop focused and aim to be at Toba Station by 16:30–16:45. For the onward journey, reserve seats if possible and confirm the evening JR Kisei Main Line connection to Shingu before leaving; the trip usually takes about 3½–4½ hours and may involve a connection, so buy food and drinks at Toba Station and arrange late check-in with your accommodation. Expect to arrive late in Shingu, making the train ride the natural end to a full but well-paced day.
