Ahmedabad to Tashkent Travel Itinerary

Day 1 · Thu, Aug 20
Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Arrival and exploration in Tashkent

  1. Flight from Ahmedabad to Tashkent — Ahmedabad–Tashkent route; depart early enough to allow immigration, baggage collection, and hotel check-in after arrival, typically 6–10 hours including any connection. Arrange airport transfer or taxi from Tashkent International Airport; keep local currency or a card available for transport.

  2. Amir Timur Square — Central Tashkent; spend ~45 minutes admiring the monument and landscaped square, an easy first introduction to the city.

  3. Amir Timur Museum — Near Amir Timur Square; allow ~1 hour for exhibits on Timurid history and regional culture.

  4. Tashkent City Park — Shaykhontohur area; take a relaxed late-afternoon walk for ~1 hour around fountains, gardens, and public art.

  5. Plov Center — Near the Minor Mosque; have an early dinner of Uzbek plov for ~1 hour, approximately US$5–12 per person.

  6. Minor Mosque — Yunusabad area; visit around sunset for ~45 minutes, when the white-marble complex is especially atmospheric.

Morning — Ahmedabad to Tashkent

Begin with an early departure from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, allowing at least three hours for international check-in, security, and any connection on the Ahmedabad–Tashkent route. The full journey commonly takes around 6–10 hours, so keep essential medication, a change of clothes, and valuables in hand luggage. On arrival at Tashkent International Airport, expect immigration and baggage collection to take 45–90 minutes; a pre-arranged hotel transfer is easiest, while official airport taxis or a ride-hailing app are practical alternatives. Keep some Uzbekistani som in cash, though cards are increasingly accepted.

Afternoon — Central Tashkent

After checking in and having a light rest, take a taxi to Amir Timur Square, allowing about 45 minutes to stroll around the landscaped center and see the statue of Timur. From there, walk to the nearby Amir Timur Museum for roughly an hour; its galleries provide a useful introduction to Timurid architecture, manuscripts, and regional history. The museum is generally open during daytime hours but may close on Mondays, so confirm locally; carry small cash for admission, usually around US$2–5. Tashkent’s streets are broad and distances deceptive, so use short taxi rides rather than trying to walk the entire route in August heat.

Late Afternoon and Evening — Parks, Plov, and Sunset

Continue by taxi to Tashkent City Park in the Shaykhontohur area for an easy hour among fountains, gardens, and public art. Aim to arrive after 4:30 PM, when the heat begins to ease; the park is particularly pleasant as the lights come on. Then head toward Plov Center near Minor Mosque for an early dinner, ideally around 6:00 PM. Order the signature Uzbek plov—rice cooked with carrots, meat, and chickpeas—for approximately US$5–12 per person, and go early because portions can sell out later in the evening. Finish at Minor Mosque, where the white marble looks beautiful in the warm sunset light; dress modestly and keep the visit quiet and respectful. Since your itinerary returns to Ahmedabad, arrange your onward airport transfer through the hotel rather than relying on finding a taxi at the last minute; for a domestic city transfer, allow 30–45 minutes, and for an international departure, leave the center at least three hours before takeoff.
