Pisa Tower and Il Pineto Adventure Park Day Trip on Monday

Day 1 · Mon, Aug 24
Pisa, Italy

Pisa Tower, Historic City and Il Pineto Adventure Park

  1. Stansted Express and London Stansted Airport–Pisa International Airport flight — Stansted to Pisa; depart early enough to arrive around 09:30, allowing time for baggage and the airport bus. ~3–4 hours door-to-door.

  2. Piazza dei Miracoli — Piazza del Duomo; see the Leaning Tower, Pisa Cathedral, Baptistery, and Camposanto in one compact UNESCO-listed area. Late morning, ~2 hours. Pre-book the tower entry.

  3. Osteria dei Cavalieri — Santa Maria; traditional Tuscan lunch within walking distance of the monuments. Lunch, ~1 hour; approximately €25–40 per person.

  4. Borgo Stretto and Piazza delle Vettovaglie — Historic centre; browse the arcaded shopping street and lively square while experiencing central Pisa beyond the tower. Early afternoon, ~1 hour.

  5. Il Pineto Adventure Park — Marina di Pisa; tackle treetop courses and zip lines in a pine forest, reached by local bus from central Pisa toward Marina di Pisa. Allow ~45–60 minutes each way plus ~2.5 hours onsite; check advance reservations and seasonal Monday opening.

  6. Return to Pisa International Airport — Marina di Pisa/Pisa city to PSA; take a local bus back toward Pisa Centrale, then the PisaMover or airport bus. Leave Il Pineto around 17:30–18:00 for the 21:55 flight, allowing airport check-in and security time.

Morning

Allow roughly 3–4 hours door to door from central London: take the Stansted Express to London Stansted Airport, then your flight to Pisa International Airport, scheduled to arrive around 09:30. After baggage collection, follow signs for the airport bus or PisaMover toward Pisa Centrale; the PisaMover takes about 5 minutes from the station area and runs frequently, while a taxi is quicker but typically costs around €10–15 into the centre. From the station, walk north for about 20–25 minutes to Piazza dei Miracoli, or take a local bus if you want to save your legs for the afternoon. Spend around two hours among the Leaning Tower, Pisa Cathedral, Baptistery, and Camposanto. Pre-book the tower time slot, as entry is timed and summer queues can be long; the wider square is free to explore, while combined monument tickets generally cost around €10–27 depending on what you include.

Lunch and Historic Centre

Walk back through Santa Maria to Osteria dei Cavalieri for a proper Tuscan lunch—allow about an hour and budget €25–40 per person. Booking is sensible on a Monday in August, particularly if you want an early lunch around 12:30. Afterwards, wander along Borgo Stretto, where arcades shade the cafés and small shops, then continue to Piazza delle Vettovaglie for a brief look at one of Pisa’s liveliest squares. Keep this part unhurried; it is a good place for an espresso or gelato before the coastal trip. From central Pisa, use the local bus service toward Marina di Pisa—check the current CPT/Autolinee Toscane timetable and buy your ticket before boarding, as the journey usually takes 45–60 minutes depending on the stop and traffic.

Afternoon and Evening

At Il Pineto Adventure Park, allow around 2½ hours for the treetop courses and zip lines in the pine forest, plus time for registration and equipment briefing. Advance reservation is strongly recommended, and check the park’s seasonal Monday opening hours before travelling; August heat is more manageable beneath the trees, but closed shoes, water, sunscreen, and insect repellent are essential. Aim to leave around 17:30–18:00, taking the bus back toward Pisa Centrale. From there, use the PisaMover or airport bus to Pisa International Airport; for a 21:55 departure, aim to be at the terminal by about 19:30, allowing extra time for the Marina bus and any traffic. If you arrive early, keep the airport stop simple rather than risking another city-centre detour.
