Start at Salar Jung Museum Dar-ul-Shifa 10:00 AM and allow about three hours. The museum is extensive, so don’t try to see every gallery: prioritize the European art rooms, Indian sculptures, arms and armour, manuscripts, the musical clock, and the famous Veiled Rebecca. It is generally open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closed on Fridays, but confirm the Tuesday schedule and ticket availability before leaving; entry is usually modest, with separate charges sometimes applying for cameras or special displays. From central Hyderabad, an auto-rickshaw or cab is easiest—allow 20–30 minutes depending on traffic—and arrive early for a calmer start. Wear comfortable shoes, as the galleries involve plenty of walking.
Take an auto or cab toward Nayab Hotel near Charminar, usually a 10–15-minute ride, though Old City traffic can make it longer. Settle in for about an hour and order Hyderabadi biryani with kebabs; expect roughly ₹300–₹700 per person. After lunch, walk to Charminar, Hyderabad’s great Old City landmark. Spend around an hour admiring the four minarets from the surrounding lanes and climb inside if access is open—the narrow stairway and upper-level views are worthwhile, though the area becomes crowded. Keep phones and wallets secure in the busiest lanes, and carry small cash for tickets, snacks, and shopping.
From Charminar, Laad Bazaar is immediately beside the monument, so explore it on foot rather than trying to move a vehicle through the lanes. Give yourself an hour to browse lacquer bangles, pearls, embroidered textiles, and small souvenirs; bargaining is normal, but compare prices across a few shops before buying. Finish at Mecca Masjid, a short walk from the bazaar, allowing about 45 minutes. Dress modestly—shoulders and knees should be covered—and follow the mosque’s local entry instructions; remove footwear where required and avoid visiting during prayer restrictions. Plan to leave the Old City before the evening rush if you are returning by cab, as traffic around Charminar can become very slow.
