Start at Yellapur Market, the practical heart of town, where stalls are busiest from late morning into early afternoon. Wander through the produce and spice sections, looking for local bananas, seasonal fruit, kokum, chillies, and packets of savoury snacks. Allow about 1½ hours, including a simple lunch at a market-side eatery—expect roughly ₹150–400 per person. Most stalls operate approximately 8:00 AM–7:00 PM, though individual lunch counters may close between 2:30 and 4:00 PM. The market is compact and easiest to explore on foot; auto-rickshaws are useful for carrying bags or reaching the next stop.
Take an auto-rickshaw or taxi to Kavadikeri Lake, allowing around 15–25 minutes depending on your starting point and road conditions. Spend an unhurried hour walking beside the water and scanning the surrounding greenery for kingfishers, egrets, and other birdlife. There is little formal infrastructure, so carry drinking water, insect repellent, and comfortable shoes. The light is usually softer after 3:00 PM, making this a pleasant pause before the waterfall visits.
Continue by car or hired local taxi toward Mavinagundi Falls; the approach can be slow on narrower roads, so allow extra time rather than relying only on map estimates. Spend about 1½ hours around the falls for the short nature break and photographs, keeping well away from slippery rocks and strong currents after rain. From there, proceed to Satoddi Falls, one of the most impressive cascades near Yellapur. Confirm access and current road conditions locally before setting out, particularly in September when monsoon water levels can affect the approach. Allow roughly two hours including the forest walk to the viewpoint, and aim to arrive with daylight remaining; wear shoes with good grip, carry water, and arrange your return taxi in advance because phone coverage and transport options can be limited near the falls.
