Have lunch in the central area before leaving for Chamundi Hill—a taxi or auto is the easiest option, taking approximately 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. At the hill, allow two hours for Chamundeshwari Temple and the viewpoint; the climb and temple queue can be tiring, so carry water and dress respectfully. A taxi is more convenient than relying on buses if you want to continue directly onward.
Finish at the nearby Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum, ideally arriving by about 4:30–5:00 PM so you have 45 minutes before closing. The elaborate sand scenes are especially enjoyable after the hill, and admission is usually around ₹40–₹100. Traffic back toward the centre can build after sunset, so arrange your return auto or taxi before entering; if you are driving, expect limited parking around both the hill and museum.
