If you're looking for a day out with the family that's both fun and active, then Anjanadri Betta is the perfect spot. Located in the heart of Karnataka, this hill is said to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. Here's a 1-day itinerary for June 2023:
Arrive at the foot of the hill by 11:00 AM and take a short break before you begin the climb. You can buy water and snacks from the local shops here. The trek is family-friendly, but it's best to keep a watchful eye on the kids as the climb can get steep at times.
At the top of the hill, you'll find the Hanuman temple. The view from here is breathtaking, and you can see the surrounding area for miles. Spend some time exploring the temple and taking in the view.
Grab a bite to eat at Kamat Lokaruchi, a popular vegetarian restaurant that serves authentic Karnataka cuisine. Try the Jolada Roti, a local flatbread made from jowar flour, and the spicy Bisi Bele Bath. It's about a 45-minute drive from Anjanadri Betta.
Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace is a beautiful example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The palace has maintained its original structure and has been turned into a museum, housing some of Tipu Sultan's personal belongings and artifacts. Spend an hour or so exploring the palace and the surrounding gardens.
After a long day of trekking and exploring, it's time to head back to Bangalore. The drive will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.
If you have additional time, you can visit other nearby attractions such as the KSTDC Mayura Chalukya Restaurant in Kudala Sangama or the Chitradurga Fort. Alternatively, you could consider staying overnight and exploring the area the next day. There are plenty of homestays and resorts available in the vicinity. For a side trip, you could visit the Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp, which is about a 2-hour drive from Anjanadri Betta. Make sure you carry enough water and snacks for the trek and wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
