  6. Sohra–Shillong scooty ride — Head back via NH6 around 2:00 PM, allowing 2.5–3 hours; check the weather before setting off and avoid riding after dark if possible.

Early morning: Shillong to Sohra

Leave Shillong around 6:00 AM, taking NH6 toward Sohra; allow 2–2.5 hours, with extra time if rain or fog slows the winding hill road. Fill up in Shillong before setting off, wear helmets, and carry a light rain layer—the weather can change quickly. At about 8:30 AM, pause at Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint for the sweeping valley views and a 30-minute leg stretch. Use the designated parking area and take care on steps or wet surfaces.

Morning: Waterfall and cave

Continue to Nohkalikai Falls, reaching the viewpoint around 9:30 AM. Give yourself 1–1.5 hours to take in the falls and surrounding scenery; visibility can vary with cloud and rain, and local entry or parking charges may apply. Then ride to Mawsmai Cave for roughly an hour. The cave is generally open during daytime, with hours and entry fees subject to change; wear shoes with good grip, as the limestone floor can be slippery, and be prepared for narrow passages.

Lunch and return to Shillong

Around 12:30 PM, stop at Orange Roots near Mawsmai for a relaxed vegetarian lunch; budget about ₹300–₹600 per person and check locally for current hours. Start the ride back to Shillong around 2:00 PM via NH6, allowing 2.5–3 hours. Check the weather and road conditions before leaving, take a break if you feel tired, and aim to reach Shillong before dark rather than pushing on in rain or poor visibility.
