Fly from Jaipur to Patna; most itineraries involve a connection, so allow roughly 5–8 hours door to door and leave plenty of slack for delays. A morning departure gives you the best chance of fitting in the sightseeing. From Jay Prakash Narayan Airport, take a pre-booked pickup or app cab into town—usually around 20–40 minutes depending on traffic. If you’re taking the train instead, expect a much longer journey, often a day or more, and scale back the afternoon accordingly. Once you’ve dropped your bags, head to the Bihar Museum on Bailey Road for about 1½–2 hours. It’s generally open Tuesday through Sunday, around 10:30 am–5 pm, but check the official hours and last-entry time before setting out; admission is modest for Indian visitors, with different rates for international visitors.
From the museum, take a cab to Golghar, near Gandhi Maidan—allow roughly 15–25 minutes in traffic. Give it about 45 minutes to see the historic granary and, if the stairs are open, climb for views over the city and the Ganges; check access locally, as maintenance can affect entry. Then stroll around Gandhi Maidan for 30–45 minutes, keeping to the paths and allowing for the heat or uneven patches underfoot. Finish at Bansi Vihar on Exhibition Road for South Indian comfort food; budget about ₹300–₹600 per person. If your flight lands late or the museum is nearing closing, don’t rush through the galleries—confirm the opening times and let the day’s arrival dictate how much you fit in.
