Set out around 5:30–6:00 a.m. for the Khaliya Bugyal trailhead above Munsyari; arrange a local taxi the evening before if you’re not staying nearby. Allow 6–8 hours round trip, including breaks, and start early: November days are short, and the trail can be cold, icy, or snow-covered. Check conditions with your host or a local guide before leaving, carry water and food, and take warm layers and a headlamp. If the route is slow or conditions are poor, turn back rather than trying to squeeze in the rest of the day after dark.
After returning to town and warming up, visit Nanda Devi Temple for about 45 minutes; late-afternoon light is lovely, but check locally for access and closing time, as hours can vary. Then spend about an hour browsing Munsyari Market for local snacks and small provisions. Finish with a Kumaoni-style meal at a market-side eatery—ask what’s freshly available, such as bhatt ki churkani or aloo ke gutke. Budget roughly ₹200–₹500 per person; smaller places may close early or have limited menus, so confirm they’re serving before you settle in.
