Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Start with Mahabhairab Temple, allowing about 45 minutes for a quiet look around. It’s a working temple, so dress modestly and be prepared to leave shoes outside. Then head to Agnigarh for the hilltop paths and broad Brahmaputra views; give yourself around an hour, and take water if it’s hot. A short auto-rickshaw ride or taxi between these town sights is usually easiest—agree on the fare before setting off.
Spend about 45 minutes strolling the shaded paths at Chitralekha Udyan, then sit down for a meal at KRC Palace in town. Budget roughly ₹400–800 per person and allow an hour. Keep the visit to Chitralekha Udyan and lunch flexible: the onward journey is long, and you’ll want time to collect luggage and reach your departure point without rushing.
Treat this as a full travel day, not a same-day sightseeing-and-flight connection. The usual route is by bus or taxi from Tezpur to Guwahati (around 4–5 hours), then a flight via Delhi to Leh; the flights and connection can take roughly 8–14 hours, and a long layover may be necessary. Check the complete route before leaving, allow generous connection time, and confirm bus availability and flight schedules directly—limited air service from Tezpur means a late start or missed connection can disrupt the plan.
The Guwahati–Delhi–Leh connection can take most of the day, so don’t count on reaching Leh Palace in time for a late-morning visit. If you arrive early enough and feel well, allow about 1½ hours for its rooms and sweeping views over Leh Old Town; check the day’s visiting hours before setting out, as they can vary by season. Take it slowly—the climb and stairs feel harder at altitude than they look.
Head to Tibetan Kitchen in Leh Old Town for lunch, budgeting about ₹400–800 per person and an hour at the table. Then wander toward Jama Masjid in Leh Main Bazaar for a brief look at this distinctive landmark, followed by an unhurried browse through Leh Main Bazaar. The bazaar is easy to explore on foot; pause for tea and water rather than trying to cover too much.
If you’re feeling steady, take a taxi up to Shanti Stupa in Changspa for broad views across town—allow about an hour, and check locally for current visiting hours. Go slowly on the steps and turn back if you feel unwell. With the long arrival and acclimatization in mind, treat this as a flexible plan: if your flight lands late, the palace or bazaar may need to wait rather than squeezing everything into your first evening.
Allow the Leh–Delhi–Guwahati flights and onward road transfer to consume the day; with connections and the 4–5-hour drive from Guwahati, reaching Tezpur the same day may not be practical. Build in a generous Delhi connection, confirm your Guwahati arrival against the last available bus or taxi, and keep an overnight stop in Guwahati as a backup. Tezpur Airport (Salonibari) is outside town, but commercial service is limited, so check your actual arrival airport before arranging a transfer; from Guwahati, continue directly to Tezpur rather than detouring to Salonibari.
After checking in, take a gentle 45-minute leg-stretch at Agnigarh Riverside Viewpoint only if you still have energy and daylight; skip it without regret after a long travel day. For dinner, Khorikaa in central Tezpur is a good place to look for Assamese dishes—confirm opening hours before setting out, as service times can vary. Allow about an hour and roughly ₹300–700 per person; a local taxi or auto-rickshaw is the easiest way to get between town and the riverfront.
