One-Day Hyderabad Itinerary from Srisailam to Pune

Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.

Day 1
Hyderabad

Explore Hyderabad

  1. Srisailam to Hyderabad — Take NH765 by car or taxi; allow roughly 5–6 hours, and plan your late-night departure with a rested driver. Check in near Abids or Lakdikapul for convenient access to the Old City and an easier onward exit; leave your bags at the hotel after arrival.
  2. Nimrah Cafe — Charminar area; have a relaxed breakfast and chai before sightseeing (about ₹150–₹300 per person, morning, ~45 minutes).
  3. Charminar — Old City; see Hyderabad’s landmark and explore the surrounding lanes while it’s cooler (morning, ~1 hour).
  4. Chowmahalla Palace — Near Charminar; tour the former Nizam palace complex, allowing time to rest after the overnight journey (late morning, ~1.5 hours; check current visiting hours before setting out).
  5. Golconda Fort — West Hyderabad; explore the historic fort and its views, then collect your bags from the hotel (afternoon, ~2 hours; bring water and expect steps).
  6. Hyderabad to Pune — Take an overnight bus or drive via NH65; allow roughly 9–11 hours by road and confirm your operator’s boarding point and luggage arrangements. Leave in the evening, allowing time for traffic from Golconda and a meal near your pickup point.

Arrival and breakfast

From Srisailam, take NH765 toward Hyderabad; allow about 5–6 hours, but the ghat sections and road conditions can make the drive slower. Since you’re arriving late at night, don’t push on with a tired driver—share the driving or stop to rest, and check the route before setting out. Stay around Abids or Lakdikapul: both are convenient for the Old City, and Lakdikapul is handy for collecting your bags and getting a cab later. After checking in and resting, head to Nimrah Cafe by Charminar for chai and breakfast (around ₹150–₹300 per person, roughly 45 minutes); traffic and parking are easier if you use a cab rather than drive into the Old City.

Old City and palace

Visit Charminar while the morning is still relatively cool, then wander the nearby lanes. Allow about an hour; entry to the monument is usually inexpensive, but check the current ticket price and timings locally. From there, walk or take a short auto ride to Chowmahalla Palace for the former Nizam residence’s courtyards and halls. Budget around 1½ hours and check its current opening hours before you go, as schedules can vary and it may be closed on certain days. Keep the pace gentle after the overnight journey, and have water with you.

Fort and onward to Pune

Take a cab to Golconda Fort in the afternoon (typically around 45–60 minutes from the Old City, depending on traffic). Give yourself about two hours to explore; there are steps and exposed stretches, so wear comfortable shoes and carry water. Then return to your hotel to collect your bags and head to your confirmed bus pickup point—or set off by car—for Pune via NH65. Allow roughly 9–11 hours by road, plus time for traffic and stops; leave in the evening only after building in a buffer from Golconda, and confirm the operator’s boarding location and luggage rules in advance.
