Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Leave Newport late morning and allow about 2–2½ hours to reach the Greers Ferry area, before adding time for stops. A straightforward route is west on AR-18 to Batesville, then south on AR-25 through Heber Springs. Roads are mostly easy driving, but the last stretch is winding in places. If your lodging is ready, drop your bags and park there; otherwise, park in Heber Springs so you can explore without hauling luggage around.
First, spend about 45 minutes at the Ruland Junction Train Museum, a small local railroad collection. Visitor access can be limited, so call or check ahead rather than counting on it being open. Then drive to Bridal Veil Falls for the short trail and allow 45–60 minutes; the falls’ flow varies with recent rainfall, and the path may be slippery after rain. For a casual meal afterward, Mack’s Fish House is a good fit—budget roughly $15–30 per person, and check its current hours before you head over.
From Heber Springs, continue toward Greers Ferry Dam for an easy 30–45-minute walk to Collins Creek Cascade. It’s a relaxed final stop, especially after rain, when the small cascade is more likely to be flowing. Then drive on to your lodging; having your parking and check-in plan sorted beforehand makes this a smoother finish to a day with several short stops.
