Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Fly from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Denver International Airport; take a nonstop if one fits your schedule, and allow roughly 5–6 hours door to door for airport access, check-in, the flight, baggage, and the trip downtown. An early departure gives you the best chance of enjoying the day, but this is a long day even before sightseeing. From the airport, the A Line train reaches Denver Union Station in about 37 minutes; budget extra time for the walk or rideshare to your next stop. Spend around 45 minutes at the restored station, a handsome LoDo landmark with cafés and plenty of places to get your bearings.
Head from Denver Union Station to Civic Center Park by rideshare or local transit (roughly 15–25 minutes, depending on traffic and connections; walking takes around 30 minutes). Allow 2–3 hours for the Denver Christkindlmarket: browse the wooden vendor huts, warm up with a seasonal drink, and try German-style market food. The market is seasonal, and its 2026 dates, hours, and location should be confirmed before you book; don’t assume it will be open on your chosen day. Then walk to the Denver Art Museum nearby for about 1.5–2 hours. Check current hours and admission before visiting, and leave enough time for entry; a same-day flight arrival may force you to shorten one of these stops.
Have a relaxed meal at Leven Deli in the Golden Triangle, about a 10–15-minute walk from the museum. Sandwiches and baked goods make an easy, satisfying stop; plan on roughly $15–25 per person, before drinks and tax, and check that its hours match your visit. A same-day return to Phoenix is not realistic with the flight, downtown transfers, market, museum, and meal all included. Stay overnight in Denver, then travel from Denver International Airport back to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport the following day; allow another 5–6 hours door to door, including airport access, check-in, and the flight.
