Start at Madikeri Fort soon after it opens—typically around 10 a.m.; check locally for current timings, as parts of the complex may have restricted access. Allow 1–1½ hours to wander the grounds and historic buildings. From central Madikeri, it’s an easy walk or a short auto-rickshaw ride. Then head to Raja’s Seat, a few minutes away by auto or roughly a 15-minute walk. Spend about 45 minutes in the gardens and take in the valley views; late morning can be hazy, but the outlook is still lovely.
Walk or take a short auto ride into town for Coorg Cuisine. It’s a good place to try Kodava specialties such as pandi curry (pork curry) with akki rotti; vegetarian dishes are available too. Budget around ₹300–₹600 per person and allow an hour. On Sunday, expect a possible wait at peak lunch time, so arriving a little before noon is sensible.
Take a taxi or drive northwest from town to Abbey Falls—allow around 30–40 minutes each way, depending on traffic and the narrow approach roads. The walk down involves steps, and the viewing area can be busy on Sundays; budget 1½–2 hours including the drive, walk and time at the viewpoint. Entry is usually a modest fee, but confirm the current charge at the gate. Wear shoes with grip, and keep to the marked path: swimming is not permitted, and the spray can make surfaces slippery.
