The trip from Mumbai to Madikeri will take most of the day door to door. Allow time to reach your departure airport, check in and clear security, then fly to whichever suitable arrival airport has a workable connection—don’t assume a direct flight. From there, arrange a car in advance for the several-hour drive to Madikeri; the exact road time depends on the airport, traffic and weather. Check in and leave a little breathing room before sightseeing rather than trying to squeeze in every stop.
If you arrive with daylight and energy, visit Madikeri Fort for a roughly 45-minute introduction to the town’s history. Museum and site hours can vary, so check locally before setting out; if time is tight, continue to Raja’s Seat, where the gardens and valley viewpoint are best enjoyed before sunset. Both are in or close to central Madikeri, and a short auto-rickshaw ride or taxi can save you the uphill walk. Allow about 45 minutes at Raja’s Seat; entry charges, if applicable, are modest and may change.
For dinner, choose a well-reviewed local restaurant near your lodging and try Coorgi dishes such as pandi curry if available; budget roughly ₹300–₹800 per person. The planned journey from Madikeri back to Mumbai cannot realistically fit after arriving and sightseeing today. Add a night in Coorg and travel on a later day: allow most of that day for the drive to your chosen airport, airport check-in and security, the flight, and onward travel in Mumbai. Book the car and flight around the actual schedule, with a generous buffer for the winding road.
