Two-Day Road Trip from Gurgaon to Sohna and Sultanpur

Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.

Day 1
Sohna

Explore Sohna

  1. Gurgaon to Sohna by car — Take the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway/Sohna Road route; allow about 1–1.5 hours, leaving in the morning and checking parking near the temple before arrival.
  2. Shiv Kund — Sohna town; visit the hilltop temple and historic hot-spring kund, allowing about 1 hour.
  3. Damdama Lake — Near Sohna; enjoy the lake and surrounding Aravalli scenery, with optional boating or other activities subject to availability, for about 1.5–2 hours.
  4. The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake — Damdama; stop for a relaxed meal at the resort, budgeting approximately ₹1,000–₹2,000 per person.

Morning

Drive from Gurgaon to Sohna via Sohna Road and the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway; allow around 1–1.5 hours, depending on traffic and your starting point. Leave in the morning to avoid the busiest city traffic, and check your route and tolls before setting out. In Sohna, visit Shiv Kund, the town’s historic hot-spring kund and temple. Allow about an hour, wear shoes you can easily remove, and check locally for current visiting arrangements; parking near the temple can be limited.

Afternoon

Continue to Damdama Lake, roughly 30–45 minutes from Sohna depending on traffic. Set aside 1.5–2 hours to take in the Aravalli scenery and unwind by the water. Boating and other lake activities depend on current operators, weather and availability, so confirm before counting on them; bring water and sun protection, as shade can be sparse.

Lunch

Have a relaxed meal at The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake. Budget approximately ₹1,000–₹2,000 per person, and call ahead to confirm restaurant access and make a reservation—non-resident dining availability can vary. After lunch, head back to Gurgaon; allow about 1–1.5 hours, with traffic sometimes adding time on Sohna Road.

Day 2
Sultanpur, Haryana

Visit Sultanpur

Getting there from Sohna
Drive by private car or app cab (Ola/Uber, subject to availability), via Sohna Road and Gurugram–Farrukhnagar Road (about 1–1.5 hours; roughly ₹1,000–₹1,800 by cab). Leave early in the morning for the bird park; check its opening hours before setting out.
  1. Sultanpur National Park — Sultanpur; spend 2–3 hours walking the trails and looking for wetland birds; check current access conditions before setting out.
  2. Sheetla Mata Mandir — Gurugram; visit this prominent local temple for about 45–60 minutes, allowing extra time if it is busy.
  3. Cafe Delhi Heights, Ambience Mall — Gurugram; take a sit-down meal before heading home, budgeting approximately ₹800–₹1,500 per person.
  4. Return to Gurgaon — Drive back from Ambience Mall; allow around 30–60 minutes depending on your final destination and traffic.

Morning

Allow 1–1.5 hours for the drive from Sohna to Sultanpur National Park, then spend 2–3 hours on its walking trails. Go early, when it’s cooler and birds are generally easier to spot; bring binoculars, water and sun protection. Access and opening hours can change seasonally, and the park may close on a weekly day, so check current conditions before setting out. Confirm entry fees at the gate rather than relying on older listings.

Afternoon

From the park, allow roughly 30–45 minutes by car to reach Sheetla Mata Mandir in Gurugram. Set aside 45–60 minutes for your visit, with extra time if there’s a queue; dress modestly and check locally for any current visiting or security arrangements. Continue to Cafe Delhi Heights at Ambience Mall for a relaxed sit-down meal. Budget around ₹800–₹1,500 per person; the mall is a convenient place to take a break before the final drive.

Evening

Drive from Ambience Mall back to your Gurgaon destination, allowing 30–60 minutes depending on traffic and where you’re headed. Follow the live navigation route; traffic around the mall and on Gurugram’s main roads can build later in the day.
