Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Start early at Virupaksha Temple, ideally around 7:00–8:00, before the courtyards get busy and the heat builds. Allow 1–1½ hours to see the temple and its lively Hampi Bazaar surroundings; the temple generally opens in the morning and again in the evening, but check locally for any ceremony-related changes. Entry is usually free, with small charges possible for camera use. From here, Hemakuta Hill is just beside the temple: give yourself about an hour to wander among its shrines and take in the broad views across Hampi. The stone paths are uneven, so wear shoes with grip and bring water.
For a regional thali near Hampi Bazaar, try the restaurant at Gopi Guest House; expect roughly ₹150–₹400 per person and allow 45–60 minutes. After lunch, head to the river ghats for a coracle ride on the Tungabhadra River. Rides typically take 45–60 minutes including waiting, but they depend on water levels, weather and local operating rules—confirm at the ghat before counting on one, especially after heavy rain.
Set out for Vijaya Vittala Temple by about 2:30–3:00; an auto from Hampi Bazaar takes roughly 20–30 minutes, and you’ll need extra time for the entrance, ticketing and the walk or shuttle from the parking area to the complex. Allow 1½–2 hours, and check current entry arrangements and closing time before leaving—the site generally closes around 5:30 pm, so don’t leave this visit too late. The Stone Chariot is the best-known sight, but leave time to explore the rest of the temple grounds rather than making it a quick photo stop.
