Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Start at Camden Public Library, where the reading room and garden look out over the harbor. Allow about 30 minutes to browse and enjoy the view; check the library’s current hours before you go, as they vary by day. From there, it’s a short walk downhill to Harbor Park for an easy 45-minute waterfront stroll. The boats and working harbor are especially lovely when the light catches the water.
Walk back toward Main Street, Camden and give yourself about an hour to browse its independent shops and galleries without trying to cover every doorway. Then drive north to Camden Hills State Park for Mount Battie—allow 1.5–2 hours total for the drive, viewpoint, and a short walk, or longer if you choose to hike. The auto road and trails can be affected by seasonal conditions, so check the park’s current alerts before setting out; expect a day-use fee, and bring sturdy shoes and a layer for the exposed summit.
Head back downtown for dinner at Long Grain, a popular choice for distinctive Thai cooking. Budget roughly $25–45 per person before drinks and tip, and check current hours and book ahead if possible; if you’re walking from the shops, leave a little time to park or stroll over.
