Séjour de quatre jours à Kyoto

Day 1 · Mon, Nov 9
Arashiyama, Kyoto

Arashiyama et ses paysages

  1. Sagano Romantic Train — Saga-Arashiyama, morning, ~1 h; ride toward Kameoka and return by JR from Umahori to Saga-Arashiyama, checking the operating calendar and reserving seats ahead if possible.
  2. Arashiyama Bamboo Grove — Saga, late morning, ~45 min; arrive early to enjoy the famous bamboo path before it gets busier.
  3. Tenryu-ji — Saga, late morning, ~1 h; visit the temple and its landscaped garden, allowing extra time if you’d like to see the buildings.
  4. Arashiyama Yoshimura — by Togetsukyo Bridge, lunch, ~1 h; try soba with river and mountain views, roughly ¥1,500–3,000 per person.
  5. Togetsukyo Bridge — Arashiyama, early afternoon, ~30 min; stroll across the landmark bridge and along the riverside.
  6. Iwatayama Monkey Park — Arashiyama, afternoon, ~1.5 h; hike uphill to see the macaques and panorama over Kyoto; the climb is steep, and admission and access are subject to the park’s schedule.

Matin

Day 2 · Tue, Nov 10
Centre-ville de Kyoto

Centre de Kyoto

Getting there from Arashiyama, Kyoto
JR Sagano Line from Saga-Arashiyama to Kyoto Station, then a short subway or bus ride toward central Kyoto (about 35–50 min total, roughly ¥450–600). Take an early train to reach Nishiki Market in the morning. No advance booking needed; check routes in Google Maps or Japan Travel by NAVITIME.
  1. Nishiki Market — central Kyoto, morning, ~1.5 h; browse the covered food market and sample local specialties.
  2. Pokémon Center Kyoto — Shijo-Kawaramachi, late morning, ~1 h; find the Kyoto-exclusive merchandise inside Kyoto Takashimaya.
  3. Kyoto International Manga Museum — central Kyoto, early afternoon, ~1.5 h; explore its manga collection and exhibitions, checking the weekly closure schedule before visiting.
  4. Weekenders Coffee — central Kyoto, afternoon, ~45 min; take a coffee break at this well-known specialty café, roughly ¥500–1,000 per person.
  5. Pontocho — central Kyoto, evening, ~1.5 h; wander the atmospheric riverside lane and choose a restaurant for dinner, typically around ¥3,000–6,000 per person.

Morning

After the previous day in Arashiyama, head to Nishiki Market early: from Saga-Arashiyama, allow about 35–50 minutes by JR to Kyoto Station and onward by subway or bus, plus a short walk. Aim for around 9:30; the covered market is liveliest before lunch, and individual stalls keep their own hours, so some may not yet be open. Give yourself about 1½ hours to browse and sample small bites—many vendors prefer that you eat at their stall rather than walk while eating. A few hundred to around ¥1,500 will cover light tasting.

Late morning and afternoon

Walk or take a short bus ride to Pokémon Center Kyoto, inside Kyoto Takashimaya near Shijo-Kawaramachi. Set aside about an hour for the Kyoto-themed goods; check the shop’s current hours and any queue notices before you go. From there, allow roughly 20 minutes on foot or a short subway-and-walk connection to the Kyoto International Manga Museum. Plan around 1½ hours for the collection and exhibits; it is generally closed Wednesdays, but check the official calendar for your date before setting out. Admission is typically around ¥900 for adults. Afterwards, take a breather at Weekenders Coffee, a small specialty café tucked into an old courtyard near Karasuma-Oike; it’s a good place for a carefully made coffee, usually ¥500–1,000. Seating is limited, so be prepared to take your drink to go.

Evening

Walk or take the subway toward Pontocho, the narrow lantern-lit lane beside the Kamo River. Arrive around dusk for an unhurried wander, then choose dinner from the many small restaurants—roughly ¥3,000–6,000 per person is a sensible budget, though riverside terraces and higher-end spots can cost more. Many places are compact and some are reservation-only, so have a backup in the neighboring Kiyamachi area if your first choice is full.

Day 3 · Wed, Nov 11
Ginkaku-ji, Kyoto

Ginkaku-ji et le nord-est de Kyoto

Getting there from Centre-ville de Kyoto
Kyoto City Bus to Ginkakuji-michi or Ginkakuji-mae, then walk to the temple (about 30–45 min, ¥230). Leave in the morning with extra time for traffic. Pay with an IC card or cash; no booking required. Check the best bus from your exact starting point in Google Maps or Japan Travel by NAVITIME.
  1. Ginkaku-ji — northern Higashiyama, morning, ~1.5 h; see the Silver Pavilion and its carefully composed gardens.
  2. Philosopher’s Path — northern Higashiyama, late morning, ~1 h; follow the canal-side path south at an easy pace.
  3. Omen Ginkaku-ji — near Ginkaku-ji, lunch, ~1 h; enjoy udon with seasonal vegetables, roughly ¥1,500–2,500 per person.
  4. Nanzen-ji — southern Higashiyama, afternoon, ~1.5 h; explore the spacious temple grounds and striking brick aqueduct, checking access for individual buildings.

Matin

Day 4 · Thu, Nov 12
Higashiyama, Kyoto

Higashiyama

Getting there from Ginkaku-ji, Kyoto
Kyoto City Bus 203 toward Higashiyama Yasui, followed by a walk to Kiyomizu-dera (about 35–50 min total, ¥230). Start early to reach the temple in the morning; buses can be crowded, so allow extra time. Pay onboard with an IC card or cash; no booking required.
  1. Kiyomizu-dera — eastern Higashiyama, morning, ~1.5 h; visit the hillside temple early for its famous wooden terrace and city views.
  2. Sannenzaka — Higashiyama, late morning, ~1 h; wander the historic sloping lanes lined with traditional shops.
  3. Kennin-ji — Gion, early afternoon, ~1 h; explore Kyoto’s oldest Zen temple and its gardens.
  4. Gion Tanto — Gion, lunch, ~1 h; try okonomiyaki at this popular neighborhood restaurant, roughly ¥1,500–3,000 per person.
  5. Yasaka Shrine — Gion, afternoon, ~45 min; finish among the shrine’s lanterns and lively surrounding streets.

Morning
