Prayagraj to Dwarka Trip

Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.

Day 1
Prayagraj

Start in Prayagraj

  1. Triveni Sangam — Sangam area; take a boat out to the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and traditionally revered Saraswati, allowing extra time for queues and changing river conditions (morning, ~2 hours).
  2. Allahabad Fort — beside the Sangam; admire the historic riverside fort from outside, as public access to much of the fort is restricted (late morning, ~45 minutes).
  3. Anand Bhavan — Civil Lines; explore the former Nehru family residence and its museum (early afternoon, ~1.5 hours).
  4. Allahabad Museum — Civil Lines, near Chandrashekhar Azad Park; see its collection of regional art and history (afternoon, ~1.5 hours; check current opening arrangements).
  5. El Chico — Civil Lines; sit down for a relaxed North Indian meal before the long onward trip (dinner, ~1 hour; roughly ₹500–₹1,000 per person).

Morning

Start at Triveni Sangam while it’s relatively cool. Allow about two hours, including the walk to the riverside, waiting for a boat and time on the water; boat prices vary by route and negotiation, so agree on the fare and duration before boarding. River levels and access can change, and busy periods bring queues. From there, walk or take a short rickshaw ride to Allahabad Fort. Enjoy the riverside views from outside: access to much of this historic fort is restricted, so don’t plan on an interior visit.

Early afternoon

Take a taxi or auto-rickshaw to Anand Bhavan in Civil Lines—roughly 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic—and allow about 1½ hours for the former Nehru residence and museum. Check current opening days and hours before setting out; if it’s closed, you can still see the exterior, but the museum visit will have to wait. Have a relaxed lunch nearby in Civil Lines, leaving time to reach Allahabad Museum, near Chandrashekhar Azad Park. Give the collection about 1½ hours, and check its current opening arrangements too; museum schedules can vary, and some museums close one day each week.

Evening

Finish with dinner at El Chico in Civil Lines, a convenient choice for a leisurely North Indian meal; budget roughly ₹500–₹1,000 per person and check the day’s hours before going. Allow extra time for a taxi or auto between stops and back to your hotel, especially around the Sangam. Since tomorrow’s onward journey involves a flight connection to Jamnagar and a long taxi ride to Dwarka, keep tonight easy and confirm your airport transfer and flight details in advance.

Day 2
Dwarka

Arrive in Dwarka

Getting there from Prayagraj
Fly from Prayagraj to Jamnagar via Delhi (or another available connection), then take a taxi to Dwarka (about 2.5–3 hours). Allow roughly 9–14 hours door to door, depending on connections; approximately ₹10,000–₹25,000 total. Book flights on airline websites or Google Flights, and arrange the taxi locally or through your hotel. Flight schedules to Jamnagar are limited, so check connections carefully.
Train to Dwarka, if a suitable direct service runs on your travel date; otherwise change trains en route. Allow roughly 30–40 hours and ₹1,000–₹4,000 depending on class. Check schedules and book through IRCTC. After a full day in Prayagraj, an overnight departure is more realistic than an early-morning start—but this journey is unlikely to get you to Dwarka in time for the listed Day 2 activities.
  1. Dwarkadhish Temple — central Dwarka; visit the city’s principal Krishna temple, allowing for security and darshan queues (after arrival, ~1.5–2 hours; access can depend on temple schedules and crowd levels).
  2. Gomti Ghat — beside the temple; walk the riverfront steps and take in the confluence with the Arabian Sea (late afternoon, ~45 minutes).
  3. Sudama Setu — near Gomti Ghat; cross the pedestrian bridge for broad views over the river and coast (late afternoon, ~45 minutes; check access locally).
  4. Shreeji Bhojnalay — central Dwarka; enjoy a simple Gujarati vegetarian meal near the temple district (early evening, ~1 hour; roughly ₹150–₹350 per person).
  5. Prayagraj–Dwarka transfer — allow roughly 24–30 hours or more door to door by rail, including station access and arrival transfer; confirm a suitable connection before planning this day. The route is too long for a same-day arrival plus these visits, so add a night in transit or in Dwarka and treat the sightseeing above as a post-arrival plan, not a guaranteed Day 2 schedule.

Arrival and temple district

The Prayagraj–Dwarka transfer takes most of the day even by air, once connections, airport time and the drive from Jamnagar are included. Treat these visits as a post-arrival plan, not a guaranteed same-day schedule; if you reach Dwarka late, check in, eat and rest, then start sightseeing the following day. When you’re ready, visit Dwarkadhish Temple first, allowing 1.5–2 hours for security and darshan queues. Darshan hours and access can change, so confirm locally or with your hotel before setting out.

Riverside and evening

From the temple, walk to Gomti Ghat for about 45 minutes among the riverside steps, then continue to Sudama Setu for another 45 minutes. The bridge’s access can vary, so check on arrival. Finish at Shreeji Bhojnalay near the temple district for a simple Gujarati vegetarian meal; budget roughly ₹150–₹350 per person and confirm its hours locally. If you can’t comfortably fit the temple, ghat, bridge and meal after your arrival, stay overnight in Dwarka and enjoy them without rushing.
