One-Day Visit to Laem Chabang, Thailand

Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.

Day 1
Laem Chabang, Thailand

Explore Laem Chabang

  1. Laem Chabang Cruise Terminal → Sanctuary of Truth — Hire a prearranged driver for the roughly 45–75-minute drive; depart around 8:00 am and agree on a pickup point and return time before leaving the terminal.
  2. Sanctuary of Truth — Naklua, north Pattaya; allow about 2 hours to explore the intricately carved wooden landmark, and check current admission and entry arrangements in advance.
  3. Mum Aroi Naklua — Naklua; pause for a seafood lunch by the water, about 1 hour; budget roughly ฿300–700 per person.
  4. Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha Temple) — Pratumnak Hill; spend about 45–60 minutes at the hilltop temple and viewpoint, dressing respectfully for the visit.
  5. Jomtien Beach — South Pattaya; unwind with a short beach walk or seaside break, about 1–1.5 hours.
  6. Jomtien → Laem Chabang Cruise Terminal — Allow roughly 45–75 minutes by prearranged driver; leave Jomtien around 4:30–5:00 pm to build in a traffic buffer, and follow the ship’s stated all-aboard time rather than planning around the terminal’s 10 pm window.

Morning

From Laem Chabang Cruise Terminal, take a prearranged driver south to Sanctuary of Truth in Naklua—allow 45–75 minutes, depending on port traffic. Leave around 8:00 am, and confirm your driver’s meeting point, mobile number and pickup time before stepping off the ship; the terminal is not an easy place to improvise a taxi. Spend about two hours at the sanctuary, whose vast wooden carvings are best appreciated slowly. Check current opening hours, admission price and entry arrangements before your visit, and allow time for any required ticketing or entry queue.

Lunch and afternoon

Continue to Mum Aroi Naklua for seafood by the water; budget around ฿300–700 per person and check the branch’s current hours, as lunch service may not begin early. After roughly an hour, drive to Wat Phra Yai (Big Buddha Temple) on Pratumnak Hill for 45–60 minutes among the Buddha images and hilltop views. Entry is generally free, though donations are welcome; cover shoulders and knees, and remove shoes where requested. Then head south to Jomtien Beach for a relaxed walk or seaside break. Keep this stop to about an hour if traffic is building—the beach is a pleasant place to slow down, but the return to port matters more than squeezing in extra time.

Return to the ship

Leave Jomtien Beach around 4:30–5:00 pm with your driver and allow 45–75 minutes, plus a traffic buffer, for the trip back to Laem Chabang Cruise Terminal. That timing gives you a more sensible margin than treating the terminal’s 10 pm window as your ship’s all-aboard time: follow the ship’s stated deadline, which may be much earlier. Confirm the return route and pickup time with your driver before the first stop, and head directly back to the terminal rather than adding another detour.
