Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Start in central Madikeri while it’s still cool: allow about an hour for Madikeri Fort, including its small museum. Check locally before setting out—the museum’s hours and access can vary, and it may be closed on certain days. From there, walk or take a short auto-rickshaw ride to Omkareshwara Temple; give yourself 30–45 minutes for the distinctive temple and its pond. Dress modestly and check the temple’s current visiting hours before you go.
Head to Coorg Cuisine for lunch around midday; it’s a good place to try Kodava dishes such as pandi curry. Budget roughly ₹300–700 per person, and ask about spice levels. After lunch, hire a taxi or auto for the roughly 8 km ride to Abbey Falls—walking there from town isn’t practical. Allow 1–1.5 hours for the visit, including the steps through the greenery to the designated viewing platform; you can’t walk up to the falls themselves. Check the day’s access and entry fee locally, and wear grippy shoes—the steps can be slick after showers.
Return to town for Raja’s Seat, aiming to arrive before sunset; in November, daylight fades around 5:45–6:00 pm. The garden and valley viewpoint are a relaxed finish, with about 45 minutes to spare for the views. Entry is usually inexpensive, but confirm the current fee and closing time at the gate. Bring a light layer for the cooler evening, and keep a little cash handy for autos between town and the falls.
For the full Tadiandamol trek, start early: aim to reach the Nalknad Palace area around first light. If you’re coming from Madikeri this morning, the drive via Napoklu takes about 1.5–2 hours, so you’ll need to leave well before dawn; staying near Kakkabe the night before is the more practical option. Visit Nalknad Palace first (allow 30–45 minutes), then walk to the nearby trailhead. Check forest access rules and arrange any required guide or permission in advance—don’t assume you can sort this out at the start.
Allow 6–8 hours for the round-trip Tadiandamol trek, and carry at least a litre of water, snacks, a rain shell and a charged phone. Wear grippy hiking shoes; the trail can be slippery even in November, and a headlamp is useful for an early start. Take your time on the climb and turn back if weather or trail conditions make continuing unsafe. There are few reliable facilities along the route, so bring what you need and pack out all rubbish.
After the trek, visit Padi Igguthappa Temple near Kakkabe only if you still have energy; allow 30–45 minutes, dress modestly and follow guidance from temple staff. Then head to The Tamara Coorg for a relaxed dinner, but confirm that its restaurant accepts outside diners and reserve ahead; budget roughly ₹1,000–2,500 per person. If the trek runs long or leaves you tired, prioritise a safe return and a proper meal over squeezing in both stops.
Plan to reach Dubare Elephant Camp in the morning, allowing 2–3 hours by the Cauvery. River crossings and camp activities depend on water levels and current operating arrangements, so check access with your accommodation before leaving; don’t count on a particular elephant interaction being available. Wear shoes that can handle damp ground, and keep your daypack light.
Continue to Nisargadhama for a slow 1.5–2-hour wander among the wooded paths and riverside scenery. There’s usually a small entry fee, but confirm the current rate and opening hours locally. Afterward, take about an hour for a gentle birdwatching walk on accessible public paths in the Coorg River Valley; bring your binoculars, water and insect repellent, and stick to clearly accessible river edges.
Head to Namdroling Monastery (Golden Temple) in Bylakuppe for a 1–1.5-hour visit. Check current visitor access before setting out, and dress modestly; keep voices low and follow any guidance around prayer halls and ceremonies. Finish back in Kushalnagar at Atithi Restaurant, where South Indian and local dishes make an easy, relaxed dinner—budget roughly ₹250–600 per person. The day is full, so if river conditions slow your morning, keep the monastery visit and dinner but make the nature walk a shorter loop.
