Five-Day Vietnam Girls Trip: Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Hoi An and Da Nang

Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.

Day 1
Ho Chi Minh City

Arrival and city sights in Ho Chi Minh City

  1. Ben Thanh Market — District 1; browse local snacks, coffee and souvenirs after checking in, allowing ~1 hour.
  2. War Remnants Museum — District 3; a moving, substantial introduction to Vietnam’s recent history, ~1.5–2 hours.
  3. Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon and Saigon Central Post Office — District 1; admire two landmark buildings next to each other, ~1 hour total (cathedral access may be limited by restoration work).
  4. Bếp Mẹ Ỉn — District 1; try Vietnamese home-style dishes in a lively setting, ~1–1.5 hours; budget roughly 150,000–300,000 VND per person.
  5. Bitexco Financial Tower Saigon Skydeck — District 1; finish with a city panorama after dark, ~1–1.5 hours.

Morning — ease into District 1

After checking in, head to Ben Thanh Market for about an hour of browsing: look for Vietnamese coffee, dried fruit and small souvenirs, and agree on a price before buying. It’s generally open from early morning to around 6pm, with evening stalls nearby; expect plenty of friendly haggling. From District 1, a Grab car or taxi is usually a quick ride, though walking may be easiest if your hotel is close. If your flight lands late or check-in runs long, keep an eye on the clock: the museum is the least flexible stop.

Afternoon — history, then landmark architecture

Take a Grab to War Remnants Museum in District 3. Allow 1.5–2 hours; it usually closes around 5pm, and the exhibits are powerful, so give yourselves a little breathing room afterward. Return to District 1 for Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon and the Saigon Central Post Office, side by side and easy to visit on foot. Set aside about an hour for both; cathedral access or the exterior may be affected by restoration work, so treat it as an architectural stop rather than counting on entry.

Evening — dinner and the city lights

Have dinner at Bếp Mẹ Ỉn in District 1, a lively spot for Vietnamese home-style dishes; budget roughly 150,000–300,000 VND per person and consider reserving if you’re arriving at peak dinner time. Finish at Bitexco Financial Tower Saigon Skydeck for a night view over the city. Allow 1–1.5 hours, including the lift and time to enjoy the panorama; check current ticket prices and closing time before you go. A short Grab ride connects the restaurant and tower, or you can walk if you’re staying nearby.

Day 2
Da Lat

Highlands scenery and adventure in Da Lat

Getting there from Ho Chi Minh City
Daytime sleeper coach with FUTA (Phương Trang), about 7–9 hours door to door, roughly 300,000–500,000 VND. Book via FUTA’s website/app or 12Go. Take an early departure (around 6–7am) to reach Da Lat in time for the evening; confirm the arrival terminal and hotel transfer.
  1. Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat transfer — Take a daytime coach; allow roughly 7–9 hours door to door, including getting to the terminal and reaching your Da Lat hotel. This uses most of the day, so book ahead and confirm the operator’s terminal and arrival logistics.
  2. Xuan Huong Lake — Central Da Lat; take an easy lakeside stroll after the journey, ~45–60 minutes.
  3. Da Lat Night Market — City center; browse the evening stalls and sample street food, ~1–1.5 hours.
  4. A street-food stall near Da Lat Night Market — City center; try local specialties such as bánh tráng nướng, choosing a busy stall with clear prices, ~45–60 minutes; budget roughly 50,000–150,000 VND per person.

Arrival and a gentle evening

The daytime coach takes up most of the day, so keep the evening easy. After checking in, take a relaxed 45–60-minute loop around Xuan Huong Lake; the cool highland air is a welcome change, and the paths are lovely around dusk. If you’re tired, a short Grab ride from your hotel is easier than walking the whole circuit.

Market stroll and supper

From the lake, head into the city center for Da Lat Night Market. Stalls usually get lively from early evening and run until late, but hours vary; browse for warm clothes and local snacks, and check prices before ordering. For dinner, pick a busy street-food stall near Da Lat Night Market and try bánh tráng nướng, Da Lat’s crisp grilled rice-paper “pizza.” Allow 45–60 minutes and budget roughly 50,000–150,000 VND per person; choose a stall with clear prices and food cooked fresh. If the coach runs late, skip the full market browse and settle in for a quick meal instead.

Day 3
Da Nang

Da Nang beaches, viewpoints and local food

Getting there from Da Lat
Fly from Lien Khuong Airport (DLI), connecting through Ho Chi Minh City if no suitable direct flight is operating. Allow roughly 5–8 hours door to door, including the connection and airport transfers; fares are typically about 2,000,000–5,000,000 VND. Check schedules and book with the airline or via Traveloka. Choose an early flight to leave some chance of reaching Da Nang with daylight.
  1. Da Lat to Da Nang transfer — The route is not a quick overland hop: allow most of the day door to door. Check current flight schedules and connections from Lien Khuong Airport before booking; do not assume a direct flight. If flying, include hotel-to-airport travel, check-in, any connection, and Da Nang airport-to-hotel travel.
  2. My Khe Beach — Da Nang; unwind with a seaside walk if you arrive with daylight, ~45–60 minutes.
  3. Mì Quảng Bà Mua — Da Nang; enjoy a well-known local mì quảng meal, ~1 hour; budget roughly 50,000–150,000 VND per person.
  4. Dragon Bridge — City center; see Da Nang’s distinctive bridge illuminated at night, ~30–45 minutes. The fire-and-water show is usually a weekend event, so check the schedule for your travel date.

Travel and arrival

The Da Lat–Da Nang transfer will take most of the day door to door, so keep the schedule flexible: allow time for getting to Lien Khuong Airport, airport check-in, any connection, and the ride from Da Nang International Airport to your hotel. Check flight schedules before booking rather than assuming a direct service; if you arrive late, save the beach walk for another day rather than rushing it.

Evening by the sea and in town

If there’s still daylight, unwind with a 45–60-minute stroll along My Khe Beach. November can bring rain and rough seas on this coast, so check the flags and conditions, and stick to the promenade if swimming isn’t advised. For dinner, head to Mì Quảng Bà Mua for the local turmeric-noodle dish; budget around 50,000–150,000 VND per person and allow about an hour. Then take a Grab to Dragon Bridge in the city centre to see it lit up after dark; allow 30–45 minutes. Its fire-and-water show is usually held on weekends, but check the schedule for your travel date before planning around it.

Day 4
Hoi An

Lantern-lit streets and riverside experiences in Hoi An

Getting there from Da Nang
Grab car or pre-booked private car, about 45–75 minutes depending on traffic, roughly 300,000–500,000 VND per car. Book in the Grab app or through your hotel. A shared shuttle is a cheaper option at around 100,000–150,000 VND per person, bookable through 12Go or a local operator.
  1. Hoi An Ancient Town — Hoi An; explore the historic streets, assembly halls and shopfronts at an unhurried pace, ~2–3 hours. From Da Nang, allow roughly 45–75 minutes each way depending on traffic; confirm any ticket requirements for the sites you plan to enter.
  2. Cơm Gà Bà Buội — Ancient Town; try Hoi An chicken rice at this established local restaurant, ~1 hour; budget roughly 50,000–120,000 VND per person.
  3. Japanese Covered Bridge — Ancient Town; see Hoi An’s best-known historic bridge while continuing through the old quarter, ~20–30 minutes (check current access arrangements).
  4. Hoi An Central Market — Riverside; browse produce and food stalls before they wind down, ~45–60 minutes.
  5. Thu Bon River lantern boat ride — Old Town riverfront; take a short boat ride at dusk for lantern-lit views, ~30–45 minutes; agree on the route and price before boarding.

Late Morning — Explore the old quarter

Allow 45–75 minutes to reach Hoi An Ancient Town from Da Nang, then spend a couple of unhurried hours wandering its ochre shopfronts and historic lanes. If you plan to enter assembly halls or other heritage buildings, check the current ticket requirements and buy the appropriate Old Town ticket; opening and access arrangements can vary. Keep some cash handy, and wear comfortable shoes—the old streets are best explored on foot.

Lunch and a riverside wander

Stop at Cơm Gà Bà Buội for Hoi An chicken rice; allow about an hour and budget roughly 50,000–120,000 VND per person. It’s a popular, established spot, so expect a possible wait at busy times. After lunch, continue to the Japanese Covered Bridge for a quick look—allow 20–30 minutes, and check current access arrangements, as entry rules can change.

Afternoon into dusk

Browse Hoi An Central Market for around 45–60 minutes; go before late afternoon, when some food and produce stalls begin winding down. Then make your way to the Thu Bon River riverfront for a short lantern boat ride around dusk. Allow 30–45 minutes, and agree on the route, duration and total price before boarding. Keep the evening flexible for a final wander through the lantern-lit lanes, then arrange a Grab or pre-booked car back to Da Nang.

Day 5
Da Nang

Ba Na Hills viewpoints and departure from Da Nang

Getting there from Hoi An
Pre-booked car to Da Nang, about 45–75 minutes, roughly 300,000–500,000 VND per car; book through your hotel or a local transfer operator. Leave early (around 6am) for the Ba Na Hills visit, and arrange luggage storage or onward transport in Da Nang beforehand.
  1. Da Nang to Sun World Ba Na Hills transfer — Go early by pre-arranged car or shuttle; allow about 1–1.5 hours each way, plus time for parking or drop-off and entrance queues. Store luggage with your hotel or arrange airport transfer logistics in advance.
  2. Sun World Ba Na Hills — Ba Na Mountain; spend the morning on the cable car, mountain viewpoints and indoor attractions, allowing ~4–5 hours. November weather can bring rain, cloud or reduced visibility; check conditions and current operating information.
  3. Golden Bridge — Ba Na Hills; walk the famous elevated bridge for mountain views when weather permits, ~45–60 minutes including access and photo stops.
  4. Bếp Cuốn Đà Nẵng — Da Nang; have a relaxed Vietnamese meal after returning from the hills, ~1 hour; budget roughly 150,000–300,000 VND per person.
  5. Transfer to Da Nang International Airport — Allow ~20–40 minutes from central Da Nang, plus the airline’s recommended airport check-in time. This five-day plan leaves little margin: book a departure late enough to accommodate the Ba Na Hills return, or skip the hills and go straight to the airport if your flight timing is tight.

Early morning — Hoi An to the hills

Leave Hoi An early in your pre-arranged car for Sun World Ba Na Hills; allow about 45–75 minutes, then extra time for drop-off, ticket checks and queues. Sort your luggage before leaving: ask your Da Nang hotel to hold it, or arrange for the driver to take it to the airport later. Check the park’s current operating hours and cable-car status before setting out, as November rain or cloud can affect the experience.

Morning and early afternoon — Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge

Allow around 4–5 hours at Sun World Ba Na Hills for the cable car, mountain viewpoints and indoor attractions, then walk to the Golden Bridge for photos and, if the weather cooperates, wide mountain views. Set aside another 45–60 minutes for the bridge, access and photo stops. Admission and cable-car arrangements can change, so check the official information and book ahead if required; fog and rain are common enough in November that it’s worth keeping expectations flexible.

Afternoon — Lunch and departure

Return to Da Nang for a relaxed meal at Bếp Cuốn Đà Nẵng—allow about an hour and budget roughly 150,000–300,000 VND per person. Then take a car to Da Nang International Airport, usually about 20–40 minutes from central Da Nang, and follow your airline’s recommended check-in time. This is a very tight sightseeing-and-flight day: choose a late departure and confirm the return car in advance. If the flight timing doesn’t leave a generous buffer for the hills, queues and traffic, skip Ba Na Hills and go straight to the airport.
