Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Begin early with a pre-arranged taxi from Bir up to the Billing Paragliding Take-off Site—allow roughly 45–60 minutes each way, depending on road conditions. Aim to arrive around 8:00–9:00 AM for the clearest mountain views and calmer logistics; tandem flights must be booked with a licensed operator in advance and remain weather-dependent. Budget approximately ₹3,000–6,000 for a tandem flight, plus about ₹1,000–2,000 for a taxi waiting or return arrangement. Bring a warm layer, water, and shoes with good grip—the take-off area is exposed and windy.
Return downhill to the Bir Tibetan Colony for an easy late-morning wander through monasteries, craft shops, and quiet village lanes. From the colony, Bir Road Market is reachable by a short walk or a ₹100–200 local auto-rickshaw ride; allow about an hour to browse produce, woollens, handicrafts, and small general stores. Market hours vary by shop, but late morning and early afternoon are usually the liveliest.
Have lunch at Garden Café in the Bir Tibetan Colony, where vegetarian plates, Tibetan-style snacks, baked items, and coffee make for an unhurried stop. Set aside ₹300–700 per person and allow extra time if you are ordering cooked-to-order food. Afterward, continue to Chokling Monastery, a short walk or brief auto ride within the colony. Spend about an hour viewing its distinctive stupa and monastery grounds; dress modestly, keep voices low, and check locally whether interior areas are open to visitors that day.
For the final visit, arrange a private taxi from Bir to Palpung Sherabling Monastery in Bhattu, allowing roughly 45–60 minutes each way and 1.5–2 hours on site. The forested approach is part of the appeal, but public transport is limited and a driver waiting is much easier than trying to find a return ride. Visit quietly in the late afternoon, when the setting is especially peaceful, and confirm current visitor access before leaving Bir. Budget around ₹1,500–2,500 for the round-trip taxi, depending on waiting time; monastery visits are generally free, though modest donations are welcome.
